left kanchanaburi today, so sad! we got a picture with apple and yui and everyone from the guesthouse. it was sad to say goodbye to yui, she's so cute ! she was sad too. as we were driving away in the tuktuk she ran over and stuck her arms through the wall and called our names and waved, we almost cried, so adorable! successfully go the public bus to supanburi. several eccentric old ladies got on throughout the trip and tried to talk to kim. one of them was stroking her skin, amazed with how white it is HAHA! the other one was a chatterbox and we think she was high on some weird herbal somethingorother. she kept slathering this smelly stuff on her hands and smelling it over and over. we switched busses at supanburi ... read more

there's a strange truck that drives around town with what looks like advertisements on the signs with a loudspeaker blaring. we don't know what we are but we joke that they're the thought police, telling everyone what to think! i they're ghetto thai advertising though... we asked our favourite server at apple's restaurant (the restaurant at the guesthouse we're staying at) her name today and it's yui (yoo-wee. she's so cute! we want to give her one of our canada flag patches that we have. today we rented bikes and rode to wat tham khao pun. it's in a cave, and is infamous as where a drug addicted monk killed a british tourist in 1995 and dumped her body in a nearby sinkhole. creepy! it was a really creepy cave, so i can't even imagine how ... read more

that was so cheesy. today we went on our tour, unfortunately we thought it started at 8:30am, but we found out at 7:55 that it started at 8, AND we had to do a last-minute room change, AND i still hadn't finished eating my apple pancake! CRISIS! mad rush and confusion! the tour was really great! it started with elephant rides, and WE HAVE FOUND THE KYAMOBILE! it was a bit rough, but really exciting! some of the mahouts (elephant caretakers) seemed to really like us, we got poked with sticks and sprayed by the elephants and no one else did. on some tours you can go swimming with them, but not this one. we still got wet though. got lots of awesome pictures! at the end, one of the elephants poked me with his trunk ... read more

so tired! we woke up at 4am (jet lag) and ate pocky and played cards. then read for a bit and tried to sleep, but that didn't work, so we got up and went for a walk at 6am. we got lots of strange looks! i guess most farang aren't normally up at that time! we discovered the cute little backpacker's area of town, which we somehow missed yesterday (even though it's pretty much right out the door of our guesthouse). had delicious breakfast of banana pancakes and lots of toast, we thought we ordered 8 slices of bacon, not 8 slices of toast. whoops! signed up for our tour tomorrow, which has lots of great stuff. the first place we went was the death railway museum, it was SO GOOD! really well done. answered a ... read more

left bangkok today, in kanchanaburi. find a map and check it out, just west of bangkok, towards the myanmar border. had the nicest cab driver to sai tai mei (southern bus terminal). he didn't know where it was, so we pulled over and all perused the maps, not speaking each other's languages. bus ride here uneventful, about 2 hours. checked in to the best place ever, apple's guesthouse. this is our home away from home, love it! ate something really spicy for dinner, oops!... read more

stinking hot! first sunburn of the trip. we walked around the area we were staying in, explored. saw lots of wats (temples) and the grand palace, but didn't go in. walked through the amulet market, which was neat. first cheap clothing purchase of the trip, swishy brown pants. so comfy! decided that we're getting the hell out of bangkok asap.... read more

surprise, i'm sunburnt! that didn't take long. i've been really good with the spf45 application, except for today where i somehow missed my right forearm. ow! apparently i'm really tasty to thai mosquitos too. awesome. so, this is my travel blog. i'm not gonna lie, i probably won't be that good at updating it. i have so many things to do every time i come on the computer that i may not get around to this. i'm also not going to spend large chunks of my vacation labouring over minute details on a blog, as i practically can't keep up with my own journal, which takes priority.
