that was so cheesy.

today we went on our tour, unfortunately we thought it started at 8:30am, but we found out at 7:55 that it started at 8, AND we had to do a last-minute room change, AND i still hadn't finished eating my apple pancake! CRISIS! mad rush and confusion!

the tour was really great! it started with elephant rides, and WE HAVE FOUND THE KYAMOBILE! it was a bit rough, but really exciting! some of the mahouts (elephant caretakers) seemed to really like us, we got poked with sticks and sprayed by the elephants and no one else did. on some tours you can go swimming with them, but not this one. we still got wet though. got lots of awesome pictures! at the end, one of the elephants poked me with his trunk as i was walking by! maybe i smelled good? (highly doubt it, it's hot here.) one of the mahouts saw us giggling at the giant elephant penis, so he poked it and encouraged us to take a picture! were going to until we thought everyone else would think we were weird. should have done it. hehe

after the elephant ride was the bamboo raft ride. so peaceful! saw a wrecked raft on the way down (!?) LOL

then a bit of a drive to erawan national park to hike to and swim in, the 7 tiered waterfalls. saw some frog roadkill in the parking lot. interesting. also ate some weird-tasting bugels. yes, that was worth writing about.

hiked up to the 7th waterfall and swam in each one on the way down. sweated off all our bug repellant in the first 5 minute in the park. got scared of the giant fish in the falls, cos they nibble! i distracted them with a straw while kim jumped in, then i jumped in a flailed around madly so they wouldn't get me. seemed pretty effective. mad doggy paddling ensued.

lots more swimming and hiking.

then rode on the death railway bridge (with the world's worst blisters on my feet. my sandals are out to get me! hate them already.) then we walked alllllllllllll the way accross the bridge over the river kwai and met a guy named paul from van. us three were the only ones who walked the whole way cos it started pissing down monsoon rains. of course, we're seasoned rain vets, living on the west coast!

hung out with paul later that night, got drunk and played pool with some dirty australians. craved western junk food and went to 7-11 to find it, came back with seaweed flavoured chips and chocoalte. hrm.

i would kill for a grilled cheese sandwich.
