Make that Sep/Oct 2016!
You will need the carbs. They provide your muscles with the energy they will need. I didn't eat enough carbs and paid the consequences. Buen Camino!

I look forward to reading your blogs about this year's Camino...
I walked from Pamplona to Santiago de Compostela in Sep/Oct 2017, skipping some stages due to a bad sprained ankle. Be careful walking down those steep rocky sections like the Alto de Perdon!

Kind words
Thank you for the kind words and cautions. I was planning on stopping at Orisson the first day but they are all booked, so I am to go all the way to Roncesvalles, the Napoleon route.

Terminal La Ofelia by local bus up to Carcelen Bus Station to get to Otavalo, Ibarra and Quitumbre Bus Station in the South for Latacunga
Terminal La Ofelia go through to other side you pay 25 cents, get the local blue bus . If I remember correctly two platforms across and on the second one turn to your right and go down last one with Carcelen Ato sign above it or just ask. I think it goes about every 15 minutes. Takes you to Carcelen bus station approx 15 mintues or so on bus. Hop of at the end, go through pass the ticket office, straight ahead to where you pay around 15/25 cents to go through, then to your right you will see buses for Otavalo, Ibarra etc turn left and walk down to the end, the one or two last places are buses for Quitumbre just jump on and pay on the bus, it is 45 minutes by bus. I think it was around $1 no more than that. The last time I went, you don't go to the ticket office to get a ticket at all. I was told just to go and wait for it and pay on it which I did after asking the locals there who were helpful and show me the way to the bus. Reading your blog now thanks for your information. Have been to Mindo, beautiful place zipline, walk to a couple of waterfalls, butterfly place etc but have not done the frog concert or chocolate place, next time.

Beautiful Tile
That tile is truly beautiful. Because I don't know Spanish, I do not know what it says. Is it about the unrequited love story?
18th May 2014

Not Spanish
Juju actually it is in Portuguese so I don't know either. I can check the website.

I'm catching up too
Obviously, I am behind in following your travels by blog. Had a bit of a relapse with my Fibromyalgia. Have you been to Dinosaur National Monument in Utah? They have a glass building covering the cliff where they are currently still excavating dinosaur bones. There is a box canyon and a little cabin where the owner allegedly helped outlaws like Billy the Kid hide out. The people in the little nearby town of Vernal are awesome. I left my wallet on top of a payphone outside of the restaurant where we ate breakfast (pre cell phone days) and they actually had mailed it back to our home by the time I called later that afternoon! No castles or convents there, though. But it is in the flatlands. Love your pictures.

Caves are so cool
Glad Manoli did the cave. Did they turn out the lights once along the tour? We went to an awesome cave in New Mexico once - Carlsbad Cavern in Carlsbad, NM, and they did just that. Thankfully for just a few very dark seconds. The cave you went into today looks very much like Carlsbad Caverns.

Little Cock of the Rock Hostal in Pilcopata

Cock of the Rock
Clinton, our stay there was part of a tour we booked with Vilca Expeditions thru All-Trek Cusco, so I have no idea how much they paid or you would pay. Perhaps if you contact one of them they can help.
