Holy Toledo is right! The city was amazing! I took the train (only 1/2 an hour) to Toledo for the day. I was sitting on the bus heading into "historic Toledo" when I noticed the man beside me was talking english and was explaining where we were being dropped off. We got talking and by the time we got off the bus, it was assumed we were spending the day together. Their was Garry and Mandee (from Australia) and Calvin from Vancouver! So two Canadians and two Aussies. We wandered around and took pictures for a while until we got hungry. Then we found a cute restaurant with a live accordian player outside so we took a seat. We all ordered "carcamusa" (a local speciality we were told. It was a spicy stew of meat and ... read more

Madrid is amazzzing! I spent the first week settling into the house, but by week two I was ready to go into the city. When I stepped out of the subway and emerged above ground, I was shocked. The city is gorgeous! The cobblestone streets, the tiny winding roads, the old buildings, the statues and monuments everywhere! It looks nothing like say, Toronto which is the only other big city I know well. This city is old and full of history... There is so much to see and do. The shopping is amazing and prices here are cheaper. There is this store "Zara" that is huge here, that I had never heard of. Its my new fav. store! I've had two random people come up to me and ask to take a picture with them! Very ... read more

My second weekend in Spain was spent in the North. The Bunzls and I headed in their Escalade for four hours into Northern Spain. Maria kept describing it as "Green. Green everywhere!" and she was right! When we arrived I felt like I had gone back in time. I felt like a pioneer! "Welcome to the meedle of nowhere!" Maria said laughing. We were in this cute house, with four other families! There were people everywhere! I think there was about 40/50 of us, so it was a full house. It had three floors, with beds everywhere (including hallways!) I shared a room with two girls named Bea and a hard-to-pronounce name. They were really nice and spoke english really well. We spent our days taking walks, playing sports and eating! Food was a huge part ... read more

So this is my first time using this blog site, but it seems pretty easy to figure out! Anyway, I've been in Spain for FOUR weeks already! Time has just flown by! It seems like just yesterday I was stepping off the plane in the Madrid airport with my huge suitcase. I nervously waited in the airport for twenty minutes, surrounded by Spanish conversations. What if this is a scam? What if there is no Bunzl family? Just then, Rafa showed up in his suit and tie. I knew it was him immediately, having seen pictures of him already. We hugged and did the classic two kisses, one on each cheek. He then handed me his cell phone and said "phone your mother!" Even though it was about 5 AM in Canada I knew an update ... read more
