Hello from Whitehorse, the last night of our holidays, we are a day behind oz so it's Tuesday night at 8.20pm. We leave Wednesday at 11.55pm and arrive back in Sydney on Friday morning. Our last travel blog left us at Raspberry Island and we were supposed to do a half day bear view via sea plane in Katmai National Park, home to over 2,000 brown bears and at 3.00am that morning the wind shook our cabin and continued to do so until we we left at 10.00am. Unfortunately we did not get to do our bear view and this was probably the one thing I was really looking forward to doing out of all the trip, I had planned the trip around going to Kodiak Island for bear viewing, little to say we were both ... read more

Hello from Raspberry Island located within Kodiak Island, what an amazing place this remote lodge is.....Sorry this entry is going to be long, we have done loads over the last week. From our last entry we were in Talkeetna and then headed onto Mt McKinley, it wasn't the best weather so we didn't get to see the mountain which is North America's tallest mountain at over 20,000 feet, it is amazing, we saw the lower part of the mountain from the McKinley Lodge and the top was covered with clouds, however on flying out from Fairbanks to Anchorage four days later, we got to see the top part of the mountain from the plane, it was incredible....... At least one way or another we got to see the mountain. While in McKinely we were still on ... read more

Hello from Talkeetna (population of 700) We haven't had access to internet for the last 9 days due to being on a train and cruise, well we did have access on the cruise but not for 75 us cents per minute !!! Thanks for your text messages asking for our latest travel blog... We finished our time in Canada by driving from Jasper onto Lake Louise, the famous Lake on all the travel shows. We spent the night at the chateau with a lake view room, the lake was frozen but still beautiful. This has to be one of the most popular destinations in Western Canada and there were bus loads of tourists just turning up to see the lake. Most of the lakes we had visited were frozen which was a bit disappointing but you ... read more

We left Whistler a couple of days ago and drove to Sun Peaks for an overnight stop, it was a very quiet town as winter had finished and summer is about to start and getting at the bike trails ready for the summer. Thank god they weren't ready now as I've had my share of biking, we spent our last day at the down hill park which Mark loved and I kept sending him on his own and started to get worried when he didn't appear for quite some time on one of the runs. They do have a bike medic that goes up so I was keeping my eye on him just in case I needed to send him up the mountain. On one of our rides we saw a mamma bear and three cubs ... read more

We arrived safely and spent the first couple of days in Vancouver with jetlag and slept during the day and wide awake at 2.00am and there isn't much to do at that time except watch tv. We left Vancouver and started our drive to Whistler and I thought that Mark taking me on my first couple of mountain bike rides tested our relationship but nothing like being a passenger with him while he is driving on the other side of the road. I couldn't read the map because I was too scared to take my eyes of the road and I had to direct him where to turn so that he didn't turn into oncoming traffic. Roundabouts are another story, but we made it in the end after a two hour drive and several arguments. We ... read more
