The Moon Ojibway people call themselve "Anishinabe". The word Anishinabe translates to "first" or "original man".
In Ojibway teachings the moon is said to be the Grandmother and the source of female energy. When the moon is full, women can ask Grandmother Moon to give them new energy. In March it is known as the Sugar Moon (hmmm birthday cake).
How unique and special that it rose full on your birthday as you sit in the cradle of mankind.
Continue to enjoy your experience. The learning runs deep.
complaining I guess now you will never complain about carrying a bag of hose through a swamp with black flies in your nose. You will also have earned the right to kick butt when people complain to you about trivial things in life now.
Keep up the good work I envy your experiences.
Stay safe.
Incredible What incredible experiences you have had. Been reading the Mcgill blog to get others perspective but your stories are always the best! Stay safe and tell Nick he needs to update HIS blog.
Sounds very exciting Your road trip sounds like a few back woods timber cruises and vehicle fire attacks that I used to go on. Lots of mud and memories. The Passport scare is a good one, you are likely far more aware now.
Sending your updates to the appropriate people.
Continue to enjoy.
Wish we could see through your eyes It is incredible to think that someone we know is experiencing first hand what we have all heard about but can only imagine...and imagine incorrectly. Keep your chin up and we hope that you can make a difference, even if it seems insignificant, in the lives of these people.
Love,
Amy and Catharine xoxo :)

For my second semester, I'll be in East Africa - through Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania with the Canadian Field Studies in Africa program.
While this trip will entail living and learning 24/7 with a small group of people, this type of situation isn't anything new to me - as a forest firefighter during the summer I've come up with a lot of tactics to deal with grumpy days, d... full info
