Aldea Luna was Awesome! One whole month without any contact with the outside world except the radio and visitors that came to the reserve. A private nature reserve deep in the yungas in Jujuy, the most North-Western province of Argentina, Aldea Luna was the cherry on my Argentine Pie. The owners are Martin, Elizabeth, their 13-year-old son Matias, and their friend Gerardo. All wonderful people. Many different groups of people came and went during my stay and I met people from England, France, Holand, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Germany, Canada, Kentucky, Washington, and New York. The work was always something different and almost always fun. The one job that I really didn't like was sifting sand out of a huge pile of stones, it involved attempting to shovel loads of stones onto a big wire grate that ... read more

I have finished my month long stay at Madre Tierra helping Gustavo build his house. It was an enlightening (and darkening for the sake of non-dualism) experience. I met so many beautiful spirits and I must return sometime in the future to check on the progress of the 3 bio-construction projects that are going on there. Madre Tierra sits on about 8 hectares of land outside of the town of Tunuyán, an hour south of the city of Mendoza. On the property live Jorge and Azucena, and their children Paloma, Nacho, and Alma Gaia, who are 12 years, 6 years, and less than a month respectively. Alma Gaia was born while I was on the farm. Completely natural birth at home. I was not in the building during the birthing, but I could certainly hear the ... read more

For the past month I was working at La Farfalla in Cañuelas. La Farfalla (Italian for butterfly) is on one hectare of land in the country two hours (by train) south of Buenos Aires. Owned by Matias and Mariana, La Farfalla is a wonderful little farm producing zucchini, pumpkins, tomatoes, yellow tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and all kinds of different plants for the consumption of Matias, Mariana, Juan-Paulo (who also lives on the farm), and any WWOOFers or visiting friends. Along with the crops there is also a pig, named Piggy, four chickens, a rooster, and two dogs, named Greta and Chicita. During the first week I was working with Raphaela, another WWOOFer from Switzerland, who showed me the ropes. Together we flattened some earth, cleared and formed some flower beds, and did other various tasks to ... read more

For the past 3 weeks now I have been Couchsurfing around Buenos Aires and checking out the city. It has certainly been an adventure. I don´t think I have ever seen so much art in my life. The count now is close to 25 art museums and galleries! For the first 10 days I stayed with a guy named Luciano, who was also hosting an Italian couple and another guy from Austria. We all had some good times together making dinner, drinking wine, and talking politics (which ofted means talking shit about the US government :) Johanness (the Austrian) and I often explored the city together as well as exchanging books and reading quite a bit. I don´t have a whole lot to say about these days because I spent most of my time reading. I ... read more

Era un tiempo largo desde mi ultimo entrada. No se donde a comencar. Mi escuela segunda es terminado, y tengo tres semanas mas in Buenos Aires. Me Encanta Couchsurfing.org! Tengo lugares gratis para dormir por los tres semanas proximas. I finished up my first School and between the two schools I was staying at the Gecko Hostel in Palermo. It was a really nice place with really friendly staff. There are a few photos below. During that weekend I wandered around Palermo and strolled through Rosedal, a gorgeous rose garden inside of a huge park, there were lots of photo opportonities there as you will see below. While I was walking through the park I could constantly here dance music pulsing away in the backround, and finally I decided to go check it out. When I ... read more

No tengo mucho tiempo ahora. I don't have a whole lot of time to write right now, but I wanted to upload some photos before they start stacking up. I went to a huge music festival on El Día de Democracia y Derechos Humanos (Day of Democracy and Human Rights) It was pretty awesome. Some 50 bands played from Argentina and South America. About 200,000 people were crowded into the Plaza de Mayo to hear the free music. It was amazing. I went with Roland from my Spanish school (who is now headed up to Peru. That was Sunday. Last Night, Monday, I went to El Bomba del Tiempo (the Drum of Time), which happens every monday and is an awesome percussion group playing hand drums with one guitarist and a sax player on the last ... read more

Hoy fue mi primer día de clase de español. Es muy muy bueno. ¡Soy español profesional! Voy a la escuela a ocho y cuarto, y yo me voy a la escuela a cuatro. From now on I am going to start each blog in Spanish so that I can practice and eventually just write in Spanish with an english translation at the bottom. But in English I will start at the begining. Two days ago was Betty's grandson Manuel's 9th birthday. Betty, Mitch and I went to her daughter's house for the party. I didn't do a whole lot of talking to anyone other than Mitch, but it was a lot of fun. There were about 12 kids Manuel's age and his two twin brother's, Simón y Juli, who are about 5. We all sat on ... read more

It seems like ages ago that I was waking up at 4:30am and rushing out the door so I could stop by my Mom's house, an ATM, and then rush to the train depot and hop on the shuttle to SkyHarbor. After 24 hours of travelling I arrived in Buenos Aires, made my way through customs, and was able to find my name among the hundreds of signs being waved by various drivers as people were leaving the secure area of the airport. My driver, Carlos, after speaking rapid Spanish and then Italian and proceeding to make fun of my confused face, asked "Françia? Russe? Estado Unidos?" I replied English and he asked "London?" I said "No, no estados Unidos." Carlos laughed and said "I thought so." On the way into town Carlos and I talked ... read more
