Florida is Green, Lush & Watery.... We spent the month of March in Florida. William, performing around the state to large & small audiences of primarily the 50+ age group. At 'the Villages' - a massive retirement community of 80,000 residents occupying 4 counties, and not easy to get a gig at, William did his show to a packed house of 600. Needless to say, they were so happy he did, and many people in the Florida audiences have commented that his is the best show they had EVER seen/heard. It was fun to share in William's successes here! One of them came through our relatives John & Judy who winter in an RV type resort in Fort Pierce. William did a show there in exchange for a couple nights stay, arranged rather short notice. But ... read more

It feels different here... William: We crossed the border into Louisana on February 21. The border crossing was obvious right away as the highways were old & much bumpier than in Texas and other states. We bounced & jounced along in the motorhome making it harder for Christina to prepare food and dance around the house as we went down the highway (har!), but she can & does actually go back & fix me snacks while we are driving. This is an oil state, like Texas, and that was evident in the gulf refinaries dotting the city of St Charles Lake not far over the border on Interstate hwy 10. It was a monday, and the last hurrah of Mardi Gras was going to occur that night. What timing, right? In the month of February I ... read more

Texas has been great! Well, I'm sorry, its taken me so long to get this entry published, folks! I've had some difficulties getting used to the changes in this site since we first began using it in 2008... You may have noticed they now have these big ads right in the middle of our stuff! I noticed that in the AZ entry where the text ended there was a big ad, and it wasn't so obvious that more photos followed after it. I hope that didn't fool you like it did me! I also spent several hours writing this entry and then somehow lost it - that was really frustrating! Besides that, we have been busy with a fair amount of being on the move & I can't spend hours on the internet for various reasons. ... read more

New text added..... On our way from Arizona to Texas we drove our motorhome off our path an hour from the interstate to visit this unique area in NM. It was well worth it! Originally, we thought we might spend a night here, and also go on to a few other parts of southern New Mexico. But since we are/were on a timetable to get to NW Florida by March 9th, we determined that this was not worth doing. Before determining that however, we had fantasized that we could walk or at least observe these white sandy hills in the rising full moon light of February. We thought our timing was going to be about right for that. But, it wasn't quite! HAD IT BEEN, the actual night of the full moon we might have been ... read more

Quartzsite Arizona here we come! We heard about this place for the first time when we bought the motor home last year. Apparently, a lot of "snow birds" like to flock there in the winter months and camp around the town in the thousands, but there seems to be a 'peak' season when the most people are there - around the time of the gem show(s). The dates are not always the same but this year the big Tucson gem show officially started Feb. 9th. In Quartzsite there is a smaller gem show that vendors go over there for, before the Tucson gem show, and the same is occurring in Tucson before the big show begins which literally takes place ALL OVER THE CITY in many small to mondo sized white tents. I had been hearing ... read more

Well after 3 years of little travel except in California and the Pacific NW (oh, and Ecuador last winter for 2 months) following our 2008 trip around the world, we decided after having some discussions over the summer about my entertainment career and the new places it was starting to take me, that perhaps the time had come for us to make the leap and do more traveling in our own back yard .... the USA. Since I did a lot of driving last summer to various gigs in Oregon, Washington and even Vancouver where we visited some friends for a week, we found ourselves shlepping a lot of stuff in and out of places, and well, after a while that got a little old!.... You know the food cooler, ice packs and all that. So ... read more

Our flight from Cairo to Istanbul was easy and we enjoyed Egypt Air except that I think it was the most turbulent we have ever encountered! The airport in Istanbul was mobbed with incoming visitors but was fairly efficient. It already felt like a different world! Getting from the airport into the tourist part of the city proved easy also using the super efficient tram system there. I have to say, everywhere we have been in Asia (Bali excluded because most natives there don't travel around the Island), the Middle East, and Eastern Europe has really great public tranportation which most people use extensively. In most of these places they just don't have the kind of traffic congestion we are so accustomed to where we come from (USA - East and West coasts). We were really ... read more

Well it's about time I write again and give you an update of our whereabouts and dealings. We recently flew from Cairo to Istanbul Turkey for I think the last leg of this trip, after spending almost 3 weeks in Egypt. We had not intended to go there so it's interesting that we ended up there. And I must say that the whole experience was rather a 'mixed bag' for us in that there were some great highlights and also some real hassles. To most of you I would say, if you want to go to Egypt TAKE A TOUR! and go at a cooler time of year!! On balance though, if you aren't really into ancient Egyptian history or the middle eastern/egyptian dance world don't bother going! We had a disappointing experience at the pyramids ... read more
