It's been about 2 weeks since my last update and since then I have left Yuzhno, passed through Seoul and Kuala Lumpur and am now in Ipoh. My last week in Yuzhno went by quite fast, although i was feeling a bit under the weather during that time. However during those last 5 days there we went an got some babushka dolls, went to the bulk markets again, visited the both American villiages (zima and olympia), visited the Chinese markets, visited Mira St Preute again and made a dinner. The Chinese markets is a bit crazy, it's all outside so people stand around in the freezing cold snow, selling their stuff. Jake and i found out that i have the distance to hit our window on the 5th floor with a snowball but not the accuracy. ... read more

The last couple of days have been quite chilled out. There seems to be a little bit of sickness going round, but I managed to get by relatively unscathed. I only had a sore throat for a day and a bit of a sniffly nose. I am currently sitting on my bed with Jake and Grim. Jake is actually cuddling Grim telling him how much he loves him, Grim is our dog here, who is actually a pretty cool dog despite regular dog annoyances like loudly licking himself, whilst we're trying to sleep. Today we went to the spring to get some water, 170L of water in fact, which should last about 2 weeks. The spring is nothing glamorous, just a couple of pipes near the bottom of a snow covered hill that trickle out water. ... read more

Dear People that read this, (I know for a fact that Mickey Gee, you said you would!) So since my last report I have had Christmas in Wortel, Belgium with the very rad and lovely Van Bavel family. Following that I went departed for Germany, stopping first at Köln, Where we checked out the Cathedral and The Chocolate museum (which I wasn't so keen on but, it turned out to be pretty alright). I'm currently travelling with a duffel bag that I sling over my shoulder, that probably wasn't the best idea and it really sucks dragging it around everywhere, I should probably have brought some sort of backpack or back with wheels or pretty much anything that doesn't put all the pressure on one shoulder. Our next stop along the way was Nuremberg, which I ... read more

Yesterday was all travellig, Claudia and I left her place at 7:30am and spent 14.5 hours travelling. Normally I'm fairly certain that it doesn't take that long but the plane couldn't land in Brussels Cherloroi so we had to land in Frankfurt Hahn. We the had to take a 5 hour bus to Brussels and on the way I had my first experience peeing in the snow. Definitely worth the 5 hour bus ride. After arriving at Brussels Cherloroi airport we had to take a shuttle bus to Brussels train station, then a train to Antwerp then a train to Noordekempen. Antwerp train station is possibly the nicest train station I've been in. After arriving at Noordakempen we got picked up by Marjolein and her mum and went to their home in Minederhout, which is a ... read more

Europe » Italy » Emilia-Romagna » Bologna December 19th 2009

So I'm told that Europe is currently undergoing an unusual cold snap and I am taking advantage of the snow in Bologna, the snow has been quite fun actually. As it happens, the last time I was in Bologna it also snowed, I haven't been as cold as I was last time, but then again I actually have a coat this time. I happened to miss the snow in London, which would have been really awesome. Before I left the UK I went to May's (A friend of Alan my cousin) murder mystery birthday party. I hadn't actually been to a murder mystery party before and I hadn't met May before either but it was a pretty rad night. The majority of people there happened to be Chinese-British, which funnily enough happens to be a category ... read more

I've actually managed to find myself a computer and a bit of time so that I can sit and write the first proper entry in this blog. The last one was quite short and frankly quite rubbish. I will try and highlight the main points of the trip so far and trim the fat, I don't want to deter the lazy readers by making it too long. I know because I'm usually one of them. MALAYSIA I spent three nights in Malaysia on the way over, spending the time in Shah Alam, just outside of KL. It was quite a good time, I actually really like Malaysia because of the blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Western cultures. Although it does create a disturbing amount of inequality at times due to the Malays running a lot ... read more

Alright so only publishing one entry in the last 2 weeks is probably not going to do a lot to bring blogging backm, in fact I have never even been a big blogger to begin with so we'll see how this goes, at the rate i'm going i'll only have 5 blogs my entire trip so i will definitely try to do better. I am currently sitting in maccas in leicester square in London in order to use their free wifi (one of the advantages of globalization). I just saw Claudia off at the train station at 6am this morning, she came over for a visit to England beginning monday evening. The trip with her consisted of going for a trip to colchester, checking out covent garden, heading on the london eye, seeing the lion king ... read more
