I was born and raised in the small town of Kitimat, B.C. When I was 20 I finally left and haven't managed to settle for very long since then. I lived in Canmore for 3.5 months, Banff for 6 months, Burnaby for 1 month, then I returned to Kitimat for about 2 months during the summer. I then decided to try the Vancouver area again and wound up living in Port Coquitlam and going to school in Burnaby/Coquitlam for 10 months. After that I again returned to Kitimat for a short bit during the summer. I then moved to Victoria for about 8 months before I took off for Shediac Cape, NB for 2 months. After the two months I went back to Victoria and stayed for about 4 months before leaving for New Zealand. I don't know what New Zealand will bring but that's what this blog is going to start with.

It has been a slow time at the hotel so it was a good time to take off for a while. It also happened that I decided to apply for a new position in the hotel. So I've transfered from Housekeeping to F&B (Food and Beverage), from Room Attendant to F&B Attendant. I now polish silverware and stock the buffet while making sure that hungry people are kept happy. On Thursday, May 8th at 3:00 p.m. I hopped aboard Atomic Shuttles and headed off towards Christchurch. I only used it as a night stopover on my way to Akaroa. I was a bit surprised to find myself a bit car-sick for the first couple hours. As it turned out my stomach was out of it for a couple of days. Curious... Sitting across the aisle from ... read more

On Friday January 18th we started our trip. We didn't get out of Queenstown until around 11am and it wound up making for quite a long day as we didn't arrive in Dunedin until about 9pm. About an hour out of Queenstown we stopped at a well known fresh fruit stand just outside Cromwell. We bought some fruits and some tasty ice cream. Jordana got one of their choose your own fruit ice creams and I got a regular considering I'm not so much a fan of fruity ice cream, although I tasted hers and it was quite nice if you like that sort of thing. We continued driving on until we reached the coast with the exception of a stop in Ranfurly to ask for directional help and pick up some hot chips. The lady ... read more

Kawarau Bridge Bungy Jump

Yesterday I had the day off and no plans so I made one. I decided to finally do a bungy jump. I chose the Kawarau Bridge because it is the first commercial bungy jump in the world. My other option was the Nevis which is much higher. I was very calm even when he was tying me up. He then said I was up so I scooted out to the edge of the plank. That was the point when the fear started to kick in but at that moment it didn't have much of a chance because he said wave at the camera. I did but didn't notice him saying to wave at the people because this is when I realized that I had to jump into mid-air. After watching the DVD several times I saw ... read more

November 6th was the day Jordana and I spent the whole day at Moke Lake. We arrived on the 5th around 7:30 or 8pm. We then tried to set up the tent near a place that had already been used for fires and had firewood. It was in the open and it was very windy so we decided to move to a more sheltered area. We set the tent up amongst some bush, ate a samosa, talked and fell asleep. Around 9:30 am we got up and started our day by going for a stroll. We picked a spot by the lake and stayed there all day until the sun set and it got too cold, which was around 8pm. During this time I ate; two oranges, two pears, two apples, a kiwi, a banana (yes, ... read more

I just noticed again I haven't written anything. There really isn't much to say but I'm trying to go camping in a week and a half at Moke Lake. I should have something to write about then. My visa is in the hands of the government.... read more

I can't believe I haven't posted in three weeks... I moved in with the woman I mentioned. It seems to be going quite well although I've only been there less than two weeks so I won't count my chickens just yet. I really like the atmosphere of the neighbourhood. I'm living in a cabin in a "Holiday Park" right against the mountain. I'm surrounded by nature and it smells so good. It turns out I did have to do the medical for my work permit but I had already decided that I wanted to stay enough that I would pay it. Either way, the company is paying for the permit so that lifts a bit of it off me. I get my results of the medical in two days so hopefully everything will be done by ... read more

I'm moving on the 3rd and on the 5th I'm going to Franz Josef for a couple days. Exciting I'm finally going to do a little trip like I planned to when I came to Queenstown. I need to try to do that a bit more. I want to sort other things out before I start doing many more though. I might be moving into a place with a woman who goes to Invercargill every other weekend. She said that I could probably go with her one weekend. That would check another thing off my list. YAY! So the message of the day is... Even though problems occur there's always something good right around the corner.... read more

So the pretty penny I was talking about in my last entry is not as dear as I was led to believe. There are things that I don't need to do so it cuts my price into a fourth of the original thought. It's $400 for medical expenses which I don't need to deal with, then it's $200 for a visa and $200 for a permit. I only need a visa if I plan to leave the country and come back during the time of my permit. I don't plan to leave the country so I only need a permit. I can wrap my mind around $200 a lot better than $800. I discovered this information today and while I was still under the belief that it was $800 I had to seriously consider how much ... read more

So I figured I had decided I wanted to stay in Queenstown for the summer. Then it hit me quite strongly just how much I want to stay here when a couple days ago when it was brought to my attention that maybe I won't be able to. Well not really that I won't be able to, it just might cost me a pretty penny to do it. Now it's running through my head... Is it worth it? How much... how badly do I want to stay? I'm feeling very strongly about it. I can't express my feelings about this properly. I am in a place where I am happy with what I'm doing. There are complications of course. For instance, I have to find a new place to live come October 3rd. So anyone who ... read more

Difficulty deciding...

I have to decide whether I'm going to stay in Queenstown for the summer or if I'm going to move on to Oz before my visa runs out. My visa runs out in two months and eight days. I told myself I had to decide by the two month mark. That doesn't leave me much time and I really don't think I can decide by then. I'm actually finally feeling the pull to go to Oz and it's getting really strong. I really really want to go there. When I had to select where I was writing from I yearned to click on Australia. So many reasons to just go go go to Oz have been coming into my head. For example; I would like to have a change from NZ, and the wildlife there is ... read more
