Witnessing the riot - From: I Predict A Riot
What an unexpected bad experience in Tehran which might have spoiled your visit in a way, as well as getting into the outfits required for the ladies. Didn't I tell you not to go out on your own? As the Turkish saying goes "The wolf gets the one who is separated from the flock" Luckily it was OK in the end. What a shame for Iran to be going through this phase. Hope gets better for the future generations - like the young family in the photo. Hope the rest of your journey will be a peaceful one. Oh by the way, I like your open air gym picture! We never did experience one in Turkey during our previous visits. What a contrast for a country like Iran... Keep safe, love X

Did you do any jigging or singing in the bars? I just love how you can be in the middle of nowhere but still have the best night out. In fact probably better than a normal night out. I'm so so impressed and I must admit you looked right at home on your scooteroo - looks like that was fab fun. It must be strange to think it's nearly time to come back to the uk. Can't wait to see you and hear all about it!

how big? - From: Amazing Grace
Boy, are you going to need a big album to hold all these photos! You are really having a whale of a time, its so good to hear all your news. It must be really time consuming writing all of your expereinces, but what a way to keep a diary! I can't believe the technology, my eldest is working in St Louis for three months, and we have set up "skype" and a "webcam" What is all that about, I'm talking to people all over the world! Not doing any shows this year as two boys weddings looming, but Lin & Julie are keeping their end up. Went to see "Kiss me Kate" and wasn't sorry that I hadn't done it. They're doing Gershwin Medley in May and I'm looking forward to seeing that. When are you home? it wll seem so boring, you will want to go off again. Keep safe, lots of love, sue xx

You're a star Mel!! - From: Amazing Grace
Well after reading the first part of your blog entry have to say you really had me in tears, I definately agree that this 12 month adventure has been the best thing you've ever done and good on you girl. From leaving me in LA nearly a year ago I know just how nervous, unsure and terrified you were to be continuing your journey where you didnt know anyone and had no idea just what was in store but against it all you went ahead and did it anyway and for that alone you should always be so proud of yourself, always believe you're stronger than you ever thought possible and that you're capable of anything you so desire to set your mind too. Never ever forget that and I know your Dad will have indeed been looking down at you the entire time with a great big grin on his face. Love you lots Mel and look forward to catching up with all your stories from around the globe when we're reunited in the UK. Safe journey home xxx

Captain Mel - From: I am sailing upon the Broomstick across the Whitsundays
Hiya hon, or should I say aye aye captain! That boat trip looks amazing and you look so relaxed and at home. I'd loved to have been sailing with you, it's the most relaxing chilled out thing to do I reckon. Although tends not to be when I'm at the steering wheel - or whatever you call it. It's been a long time since I was on a boat. And how nice to sleep under the stars - you sound like you're becoming very philosophical. Wish I could be with you drinking cocktails too, I've just got in from my first run of the year and oh my God! I'm knackered. I could do with a drink.

Breakfast with kangaroos - From: Flying without wings!!!
Hi Mel! Now that you are at the East Coast you might want to stop by at Noosa North Shore Resort in Noosa. At least a year ago the had also dorms despite the posh name. It is a really really nice place with friendly staff and great surroundings. It is off the party zone, but it is well worth it I think, since you´ll literally have breakfast with kangaroos. The kangaroos are grazing at the lawn all day long and though they are wild, they are not scared at all. You can also go canoeing on a lake (or was it a river..) and do a camelride if you wish. But most of all, it is nice just to enjoy the peace and nature! :) Enjoy everything!

Hi Mel, great to see your blog - oh the memories of cape regina, auckland tower (why didn't you climb it?! great fun!), the sandboarding (the trapse up the dunes so long and the sand EVERYWHERE but again lots of fun coming down) and Auckland. Did you manage to hook up with Emma? If you go back to Auckland, check out the Irish bar just opposite the Auckland Tower; did kareoke when I went, right up your street. The weather looks hot and the horseriding fun, esp in the river! Very cool. Have fun in Rotorua and don't be fooled when you can't smell the sulphur anymore - that's because you'll smell of it too! Clings to everything you own, believe me. But lots of exciting sulphur pools and volcanoes, a zoo and glowworm caves. Where are you going next? Have you done Queenstown? Definitely should - you'll love it. What's your schedule? Thanks for your package and card, haven't opened them yet as am saving til the big day - just5 days of this decade left! Hiya Hon, You look fab my dearie. Those piccies of you on the surf board are brill. It's really strange seeing you on the beach in the warm (I pressume!) when I've just got back from a week ski-ing in the freezing cold. What a bummer you hurt your toe, I bet you would have been riding the waves with style with a bit more practise. Hope you get the chance for another try. Can't wait to see some piccies of NZ - hope you have a great time hon. Love and hugs, Barbs.xx

Meltem, this will be my first comment so as a start I want to say that this adventure&journey of yours is something that the half of the population of the world is dreaming of...with the only difference of them working forever in order to put some money aside. I congratulate you for coming up with the idea of traveling around the world and being able to turn it into real and most important of all, for your courage. You are seeing tons of things and experiencing life which is priceless. Keep posting your stories and keep us updated. I wish you good luck!

Gone but definetely not forgotten, possibly people are sooo jealous of the fantastic time you are having honey that they can't bear to see it - I for one would love to be out there doing what you are doing. Blighty is turning into a vee nasty place where it seems ordinary people are looking at each other with nastiness in their hearts, so much trouble and strife, so you see you went at the right time and make sure that when you bag that rich Aussie chappie that he's got an older brother for me too!So this Van thing is it one of those Volkswagon things? Are you having to pay for the privilege or are you doing the "dropoff thing" for a hire company?Crikey just glanced quickly at your travel map and seen hopw far you've already travelled - thats a lot of miles - you go girlie!!Stay safe little Mel, enjoy the "road trip", and I'll be looking out for more news from you, you little intrepid traveller burdie you. Dear Mel Sorry if you are feeling a bit forgotten, will try harder, promise. I love the pictures you send on the blog, keep them coming. Rehearsals for Barnum in full swing, its the Canterbury Concert on Saturday and then we start rehearsal for Kiss Me Kate the following week. Luckily I have done the show before so will not have to learn the words from scratch. I think you should definitely get an Elvis van and play his CDs all along the coast. Slack Alice Here - From: Now I got a brand new combine harvester..
Hey sweetie, sorry to have been out of touch for so long, time just seems to be getting the better of me these days. The photos are brilliant, you look like you are really enjoying yourself and have made a lifelong friend there too! Don't think I would have been able to hack woking on those farms either, like you two likely lassies I too am a City girl at heart, just can't do that physical labour stuff, an Orlando bullet jsut about finishes me off these days! Sad ol bat that I am. As I had leave and couldn't afford to go anywhere, no change there then, found myself another job, only part-time, its working for a promotional company, mostly just spraying the unsuspecting public with new perfumes/aftershaves, but hey it beats hanging around the house all day and at least it'll put a few much needed sheckles in in the pot., as my lovely but enormous son has taken up icehockey and its proving to be a farily expensive sport, hey ho at least he's not wandering the streets making a nuisance of himself, small mercies and all that. Keep up the good work out there chick and sending your news, its really uplifting to read al about your adventures, and I have to say I think the Australian man for marriage seems like a very good idea, find one for me while you are at it please, there you are you two could set up an agency to match English burdies with Aussie blokes, could be a real money spinner???? Hey Mel, how lovely you're meeting nice people. Of course they're gonna miss you - we all do too!!! Be sure you wear a midgey-net at Ayers Rock - the mosquitoes come in droves apparently. Am looking forward to the next update of all your travels across the country. Then Darwin... ;) Sounds like you'll have a ball - I'm going to a doctor's ball tonight at a posh restaurant - will let you know if there's any goss! Don't forget you'll have to give us all Jen's address - for your Christmas cards!

Nice car! Not many can say they gone round in an mgf on their budget travels :) The place looks gorgeous even though its winter. Definitely will visit one day, shame did not work out this time. The weather's gorgeous here now - there's even talk that we'll get malaria mosquitoes before long (not yet don't worry). So glad your foot's better. Well done to Jen for helping to raise so much and to you on your prize (your last blog). Yes, I'm behind replying - busy bee - your update's by email. Your pictures and tales are always great to share - thank you and keep them coming. I hope you can get a copy of everything you've written at the end of your travels. Where are you off to next - the Alice Springs, Ayers Rock, Darwin plan? Enjoy, hope the train ride's not too tiring. Lxxx PS Try to get an extra's part in Home and Away before you go!

Greetings Drunken Turkish Delightful - From: I can't wait for the weekend to begin!!!
think it's time you came home, sounds like you are having way to munch fun & as you know weekends are such a "drag" ere at VJV. Yep, while you play with your fat pussy and popping those headache tab's from last night's pole dancing charity evening, i'm awaiting yet another action packed day of customer services calls and boring holiday destations ....... yawn, i "love this job" :-) we, Thong Mann, Stevie & I, are missing you loads but wishing you more great nights out & fantastic meeting of new friends and adams family extras (and i bet you've had a few (in more ways then .... )) follow those dreams girl, i'm only just getting rid of that green envy rash i got when you first "broke the news" of you jet-setting around the gobal village that is the starship enterprise, but every time i read your blog, bang, another flare up happens & more oinkment needs to be appllied, by the tub full. I'm so happy you took this way to start another chapter in one's life, rather than trying to repeat life's curry/kebab from yesteryear :-) life's ment to be explored and enjoyed and tasted, rest when you retire, take care, love you loads & keep sending those darn "itchy" updates.
