Hey Rob! So glad to hear she was just protecting her own and not looking for a fight with you, per se! I can only imagine the sheer beauty of your life in Africa and what a wonderful experience it sounds too - you sound as though you truly have found a little slice of heaven on earth! Fear not for the lack of contact with old friends, true friends will always remain with you wherever your travels take you and who knows, maybe one day, some of us may come and visit you there! Stay safe my friend and I look forward to our paths crossing again one day :o) x
...Keep \'em comin\'!
Yours very dirty from yet another day picking almonds and dodging tarantulas at home in the province of Tarragona, Spain.

Gabarone I have been there. Its not really that bad. You do get all kind of food be it asian , Indian, American,
Chinese u name it. The place looks clean and reminds me of San Jose,Calif. The new hosing colonies are well planned and beautifully laid out. And oh yes ! road maps are are easily available.
People are friendly. It is safe to return home late( a rarity these days even in the best cities of world). And finally itis the gateway to some of the best safaris one can enjoy.
Amazing Rob - I can't believe it has been two years you have been away from us - but you seem to be so happy in Africa it makes me smile every time I think of it. Keep up the good work on these reports it helps us feel we are there with you. Hugs :-)))
A wonderful life! That sounds just about the perfect way to spend a night! I look forward to hearing if you manage to get night goggles so you can see even more. Stay warm ;-) xxx
Wow - just wonderful to hear this story. We have our own great experiences of Africa but to hear of your adventures that have become your daily life is great. Amazingly though, I'm not that jealous, I like my gadgetry and bug-free life too much here in the UK. :D
And stunning photos. :)
Great story and amazing pictures, Rob! I experienced such a black night with millions of stars when I was in Africa as well, so I absolutely know what you are talking about. These moments are just perfect and certainly you will keep them forever in your mind. I hope to be back in Africa next year again. Take care, Steffi
Thanks for the great photos and weather report! Just read your bolg...found it by accident...At the end I realized you were at CCF. I'm certainly glad I coming there in May and not Oct. I guess I lucked out, not having to wade through mud and deal with all those little biting critters.
I'll look forward to you other accounts and great photos.
Dreaming of Distant Lands Rob,
Really enjoying reading your journal. You write so well and convey a very strong sense of the places you visit and your experience of them. I MUST start planning that next trip! Liz x
Will do! I took around 1500 photos this trip, all in raw format. It'll take a me a few days to process through them, but I promise I'll get some up here when I do.
This journal is a place to record my travels and the adventures along the way. It doesn't get updated all that often, but I'm gratified to see that quite a lot of people do seem to read it.
I have travelled in Europe, Asia, North America and the Middle East but my principle love is sub-Saharan Africa. From the moment I first set foot there in 2004 (Kenya) I fell completely and utterly in love with the place. I feel very much as if I have left a piece of my heart here and I have to keep returning. As I write these words I not only have travelled through ten African countries from Ethiopia i... full info
