Allan & Jami Cheateaux

TheJamiandAllanShow

A long time together, newly married couple with a penchant for adventure and the inability to sit still. We have a love for bikes and an ambivalence toward cars. Just returned home to Colorado from California as Jami finished up her doctorate degree at the University of Southern California, we are very excited to show our dog Taj the Rocky Mountains.

As travelers, we are always walking a fine line between trying to see and do everything and not looking like a kook tourist. But you also dont want to fall into any tourist traps either. So you go look for your own amazing things and leave the crowds behind. But sometimes something is cool enough to warrant a look... If you find yourself on Oahu, The Polynesian Cultural Center on the East side definitely is a must do. Located next to the Brigham Young University Hawaii, it offers youth from all the islands of Polynesia the chance to come to Oahu and get a college education, who work at the PCC and teach people about their culture. While they gloss over some of the human sacrifice and cannibalism, they do a great job of displaying life ... read more

After a brilliant 6.5 hour flight from Denver to Honolulu (with a unexpected slot in Economy Plus on United, the leg room was bitchin'), we were greeted by Team Cheateaux, Hawaii chapter. Allan's brother Aaron and his wife Tammy Bo-bammy live in Wahiawa, pretty much smack dab in the middle of Oahu, and will be now and forever known as "Team Danger". With some really choice digs off base, we are free to come and go as we please... But first things first.... The beach! We head straight to the north shore for some swimming and body surfing at keikis after we pick Jami up some new swim fins. The Churchhills finally had it and she's been looking for something a bit stiffer. It felt amazing to slide into 80 degree perfection. Air? 80 degrees. Water? ... read more

With a 26' Penske, in obnoxious yellow, we left Carlsbad, CA on the 15th of June an headed for the great Rocky Mountains. 1100 miles later, we arrived, exhausted, in Loveland, CO. We plan to set up a life here in Northern Colorado to the east of the wind scoured peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park. But before we pump out kids.... a trip!!!!! We leave the 30th for Hawaii to see Allan's brother Aaron on the island of Oahu. 2 weeks after, we take off with our one way tickets to Bangkok, Thailand. That's where the planning stops. We have visas for India and no return flight. Around the world? South East Asia? China and Japan? Only time will tell......... Until then, we have a ridiculous list to take care of. There simply isn't enough ... read more

We got together with some of our friends we've made during our stay in California for a little going away soirée. We have enjoyed our time in southern California, but life leads us else where. So thanks to all who could make it down for some sun, surfing, smores and burnt hot dogs. We will miss each and everyone of you.... read more

We have procured some pictures from the wedding. It was a fun little 10 minute ceremony in the cove on Terra Mar Point in Carlsbad, CA. Then we had a great evening getting drunk in the drive way of a fabulous beach rental we had for the week (Thanks Dave!). A full album of the pictures can be found here, on photobucket.... read more
