CCS Love for Darren Darren! It sounds like you've had quite the journey, thank you for including me in your blog. If you have time, I know Anil would LOVE to see you- have you stopped by or do you plan to stop by and say hi to him? I know this is a separate experience, but if you want some good (free) food and some familiar faces, you know where to go!!
Getting in shape for Kili. Glad to here you are getting in shape for the climb, I am looking forward to it. (I'd better get on the eliptical for a few hours a today.) No better way to train for the altitude adjustment then a visit to the Himalaya's. Enjoy your time hanging with the llamma's, and see you in a months time.
Sorry to hear that you were sick Kyle. I hope you are feeling better by now?
I so look forward in getting these. It is certainly a ONCE in a lifetime trip for you. Glad you were able to do it and allow the rest of us to live it through you. Thanks! We all have much to be thankful for. It's not a perfect world, but its a great ride!
Love

art history hey boys!
thanks for the update and the amazing pics. i just busted out my Buddhist Art and Architecture book and i can not believe you are seeing all of the sites in the book. what an incredible experience!

Love,

Enjoy the Wonderful world of cricket... You skipped stopping at Gokarna. Wow, I thought you were going to hit every beach on continental Southeast Asia.....
I wouldn't worry to much about being late to the cricket match. The wonderful thing about cricket is that matches can last for day's. That should get you plenty of time to get the glycerol out of your beers.
Have fun.
Sounds like... Sounds like Kyle has converted to the head bobble.
By the way after rereading your posting last night some members of the local Baptist Church came to my door for a "Survey." Boy was it fun to to flummox them when I told them, "You know my brother just wrote that faith was disproved by scientists. But thanks anyway." Boy they looked totally stunned. (I did tell them it was a joke [kinda].) I think it shortened the sales pitch however.
The challenges of having Dong! Ok Boys....I hope you kept your "dong" safely in your ....pockets!
I think a novel is in the making.
I can see the title now, Got Dong? Get Riel! or What the Kip! I love hearing about your travels. Keep the blog blogging.
Peace Boys! Shannon
too bad about vietnam. a friend of mine from college lives there. if i'd known, i would've connected you as i'm sure she could have helped you out a lot. she's lived there for about 8 years.
B.J. and I just got back from finland, denmark and sweden. It was an AMAZING trip! If you can fit it in, I recommend traveling through Scandinavia...especially Stockholm.
Cheers!
Still valiant.. You guys are right. That is what happens when you fxxx a stranger in the ass!!
Well, at least you are heading to.. what? Bang- .. bang.. bang - kok? Does that sound right? Should be a healthy turn-around!
Smart, sweet Americans Hey Cousins, Loved the photos of Sapa....and the rice fields look amazing. Thanks for bringing a little bit of the sweet and smart American flavor to southeast Asia! As a teacher and a mom, I LOVE hearing that you guys think about the way the kids of these countries are looking up to you and want to be like you. Just one more reason to love my cousins! XOXOXO, Cousin Kirsten
Oh, Asher is officially a Peterson now...his adoption was two days ago...YEAH!
enough about your dong You have both become excellent photographers. Your eye and skill are really very impressive. Too bad you can't keep your mind off your dong. :) That joke would never get old for me. I love to see the things that you have seen, but try not to be too hard on the locals. They're just trying to get by like everyone else. I'll bet it gets annoying, though, and not to mention depressing. Just remember 2 things: Just say no, and keep your dong in your pants...or where ever your wallet is! HA!!!!!
hugs,
mel
HA!!! Your mom should start a blog about Kyle dressing in drag and other Bernard shenanigans!!! I would SO read that more religiously than this. Kidding. Seriously, though, Kyle is not called "Geek" for nothing. And that's not speaking of Toe Pick. :)
love you guys be safe.
This made my day You guys just made my day! It's sad that reading about puke flying through a window has prompted me to laugh out loud at my desk, but it's true!
We miss you. I can't believe it has been three months already!
Take care and stay safe.
Love,
Jamie
Hey! Sounds like it's a great trip so far... watch out for the puke, though... Love all the picture you've posted--I wish I was there! Take care and stay safe. ;)
I quit my cushy job in health care software in January of 2008 and hit the road with my younger brother Darren (the one on the left of the photo). We had plane tickets to South East Asia and not much of a plan beyond that. It turned into one of the best years of my life. And, as a result of this blog, I convinced many of my friends to leave their uninspiring jobs and travel as well!
I am now finishing medical school in the United States and starting residency shortly. Money is tight, becoming a MD has me pinned down, but I jump at every opportunity I can to get out on the road.... full info
