MARK.ARNOLD@MSKGLOBAL.COM I was there (Tuscany) and i would advice you to hire a car and go around Rome. Just perfect!!! I did it with Auto Europe (auto-europe.co.uk)
Bed & Breakfasts Hello, really liked your blog entries! If you are ever travelling again within the UK or Ireland we have a great website called The B & B Directory, its got lots of bed and breakfasts and guesthouses to choose from all over the country, the address is http://www.thebandbdirectory.co.uk - enjoy :)
Awesome Pictures! Thanks for sharing your pictures from Dublin. It looks like you and Ash had a great time! I'm sure it was nice to have a familiar face there. :) Counting down the days until you come home!
great description hhe he eeee =)) you described it in an interesting way =))
I was in Armenia and went to Burns here: http://blogs.fco.gov.uk/roller/lonsdale/
Thank you Correction! Thank you for the correction, I will update the blog, sorry, that's what I get for updating a blog while on a conference call :)
Yes, Burs supper...you are right again! Can't wait to experience it :)
Quick correction! Balloch (not Bollach) is a little town on the edge of the lake called Loch Lomond (not the other way around - Loch is Scottish for Lake). And look up Burns Supper on wiki!
Already miss you! Miss Texas - we already miss you here. I loved your story about the drunk lady on the plane. Take care, be careful, be productive, come home soon.
Love,
Em
Oh it's cold alright. Especially compared to Texas but its only in the past few years its started to snow again. It used to snow and hang around all the time during the 70s and 80s (when I was a boy) but then for a couple of decades the snow just turned to rain (like Scotland needs thats). So maybe that explains why people can't drive in it, most people re having to relearn how, and snow tires aren't aggressively sold as they would be in the northern States.
Hi! Hey you! I enjoyed your pictures from the weekend and I'm glad the sun came out a little for you! Wimberley was a great time but we all missed you terribly. I just emailed out a link to the pictures. You made an appearance in so many of them - amazing how you were in two places at once! :P
Voltage Hi Justin! Thanks for the response on charging things...I think you are right that it is a voltage thing. I am going to swing by the apple store just to see if they have anything that might work. Thank you for the recommendation on the book and movie, I am not sure where to get either yet but plan on walking the city today. It finally stopped snowing today...clear skies, hopefully that stays for a while. Where did you move to in the states?
Good times... Just read your blog, how fun! Enjoy every moment, do as much as you can and try as many new things as possible. This will be a time in your life you'll never forget (good call on writing the blog so you really won't forget...as time goes by the details often become eh, urgh....fuzzy.) See ya back in Texas!
I think it probably is a voltage thing When I moved from there to the States I found I could charge some items that I brought with me and others not at all, and some would charge but the indicator light would never come on when it was full. Not being an electricity expert I'm not sure why some do and some don't work.
I'm surprised to read its still snowing I really thought it would have been gone by now but last winter (the winter after I left the country had its cold snap too) but there is plenty of things to do in Glasgow if you decide to leave Edinburgh for another week. When the snow does let up I would suggest you go spend a day around Loch Lomond and if you have the time before leaving Scotland altogether for travelling Europe I would also suggest going up to the Isle of Skye for a completely different feel from the cities. As for entertainment in your new flat I would suggest getting a copy of Dear Frankie a good (but sad) Scottish movie and a copy of Buddha Da for something to read. They will both help you master the Glaswegian accent which takes a bit of getting used to if my wife is anything to go by.
Electricity Hi there, i do have the adapter, but it won't charge certain things? Could it be because of the voltage? My phone charger gets really hot and smells like something is burning. Glad I bought an adapter that has a built in surge protector. Any other ideas?? Are there different types of adapters???
hee hee glad you liked my setting off the alarm story :) miss you . do you have skype????
Skype :) I think we are planning on doing it tonight! I will get up in the middle of the night to talk to you girls :) Bring your wireless card to Wimberley ;)
electricity You need a universal adapter for the wall plug. When I went to Europe, I had to get one in order to plug things in. If you can't find one there, I'll send you one. Just let me know.
Just so you know, I'm cracking up at the fact that you set off the alarm. HA!
Glad you're getting settled. So wish I could hear your voice. Miss you bunches!
Traveling for the first time to Europe on business, but plan on taking as much in as I possibly can. I will be starting out in Scotland and will be traveling around Europe for the next 3 months. A little bit of nervousness, but a lot of excitement about this whole life changing experience. More to come!!!... full info
