My visit
We were on Queen Mary 2 and got to visit. I liked it, sunny and warm, clean, beef stew and salad was just fine. I only wish I had more time. Never got to visit Scottish "Embassy." Thats an island joke. Its a pub. I could only see a little of the island but it seemed perfectly liveable. Price on a good Rolex was about three thousand more than in mall in Costa Mesa, CA. Why would anyone interested in being healthy, take the risk or ordering fish and chips? They are often greassy. I do not live on an island, I am married, which is even more restrictive. Help!

Nice pics and text!
Very nice pictures. I am Brazilian of portuguese descent and yould love to meet portugal. The sidewalks are similar to the ones we have on the sidewalk shores in Rio. Very nice. Sad that you got exploited by some "smart ass" guide. Thanx for sharing it! Btw i wonder where peter42y got the idea that the portuguse are arabs!! :? They are not arabs at all they are EUROPEAN CHRISTIANS.

Love taking your trip with you!
Susan, it was as if I was with you on your journey. Thanks for taking the time to do this. It was great. I enjoyed it very much.

I live in Lisbon. It is sad you got ripped off .Maybe the lesson you should learn is that you should go on a organized tour , not on your own. Portuguese are arabs..., and many arabs do not loose the ocasion to rip off tourists. ( Besides with the increase of the crude price things are getting more expensive in portugal.., so tourist guides must rip off tourists even more ). That is sad. Portugal main industry is tourism and those guides should do their best to please customers ( tourists ). It looks it was not the case.

What a Great Ship!
Wow! I am so impressed with the ship! Sounds like being on board was as great as being in port, maybe even better in some cases. I don't think you were the only one who never learned their way around. When I went on a 7 day cruise on a boat much smaller than yours, I never learned either. Glad you had a great cruising experience.

Olive oil
I've lost things in much the same way....maddening. Perhaps someone you know googled "Vigo" and "olive oil" and sent you a replacement, although how would that person know which brand? >sigh< RE Paris, those are great shots of you and your friends in front of the ET. Daughter Ashley found the people she encountered in Paris rude and condescending, with a few exceptions, and her impression has remained with me. Your blog doesn't dispel it....

That's a deal. When do you want to go???
23rd June 2008

You must go back!
You must go back to Paris and really see the sites! It is one of my favorite cities in Europe. I'll go back there with you!

I was just there!!
It's wild to read about your travels to the very places I visited in November. I have a photo of me and my mom tossing our coins into the Trevi Fountain too!! A little bit different since we visited at night, but the facial expressions are the same! Very cool.

I went to Cadiz last summer--beautiful beaches! But, we too ended up walking all the way back to the train station from the beaches because our tour bus never showed up! We thought we were going to miss our train! But, we made it! Just a hint about Spanish food--did you ever see a Spanish restaurant anywhere but Spain? Could have something to do with the fact that their food isn't that great!!!!!

Great pix, as usual!
I'm thinking now that we've gotten the "ugly American" tag because others of us, confronted with deceitful, ripoff behavior at foreign ports, haven't been as nice about it as your party seems to have been. Are we just "marks" to foreign guides, I wonder? Maybe our rep isn't all about complaining of dirty accommodations, primitive toilets, absence of washrags, etc, as I used to believe. Anyway, you got some lovely photos and great memories! Kudos.

Fantastic

Rubber Tree!
I saw a rubber tree in Bangkok at the Cabbages and Condoms restaurant, but it didn't look anything like this one...

Lovely
I see why Rick and Terri love to travel to Tuscany. If I ever get on a plane again, that will be the region I head for, too.... Thanks for taking the time and writing effort to bring these places to life.

Was the wine good?
Gorgeous! This is my favorite of your blogs. Now I see why the Riviera is such a popular destination.

Fascinating place!
Sounds like avoiding cabs altogether would be a good idea here. Could many interesting sites be accessed by walkers?

Sorry
Well it sounds like you have wonderful luck with sight-seeing but not so much with food around the cities. I am glad to know you have wonderful drinks (and food) on the boat to sustain you. Glad you are having a blast and I am loving reading about it!!
