| 9th June 2009 Grace | Hello - From: time flies Hi Jane, I can't believe you'll be back in blighty soon. You certainly don't need to worry about about being too hot here-we've had our summer-3 days last week!! We're back to the rainy season now. Update on the book sale, it's on Friday after school, so as soon as I know how much we've made I'll email you so you can get some more resources for your schools before you return home. Enjoy the final part of your adventure-we're looking forward to seeing you again. Love Grace |
| 9th June 2009 Tony P | ‘new message/comment’! - From: time flies There, that title should keep you happy... (think about it). You're right of course, time really does fly by when you're enjoying yourself, and what a shame your experience has to come to an abrupt end. Still, it's something you can tell your grandchildren all about - presumably you'll be putting together some sort of 'photo album of all the stuff you've taken pictures of. Now that will be something for you to cherish! Enjoy every minute of your last few weeks and we look forward to seeing you again - good excuse for a night out!! Oh yes, there's still a place for you at our yoga sessions... Take care, Tony. |
| 13th May 2009 Tony P | Liked the photos - From: a typical day What a shame your adventure is to be brought to a premature end. How quickly time goes by - it doesn't seem all that long since you left. Still, we'll all look forward to your stories (over a bottle of wine perhaps?). Actually, we've been pulling your leg - we've won the lottery and all handed our notice in, so you'll be on your own next September. AND you've shot yourself in the foot because we can see how well you can cope in difficult conditions... Ha, ha! Love Tony. |
| 12th May 2009 judy brown | great blog - From: a typical day I loved reading this, the best yet you are really getting the hang of this! Keep it up. xxxxx |

| 9th May 2009 Lesley Markham | homecoming - From: Bad news/Good news Hello Both What unhappy news just as things were going so well. It will of course be great to see you again. I certainly shan't be bored! My mum thinks you could do talks for the W.I. !!! That might put you off returning. Love Lesley (and John) |

| 1st March 2009 Grace | Ideas for Fundraising - From: school 2 Hi Jane, it was lovely as always to read your blog. Molly has come up with an idea that she is going to take to school council: children bring in books that they have read and no longer want and sell them in a book fair fund raiser, with all monies raised being donated to your library fund. I'll keep you posted and hopefully we'll be able to contribute enough money to buy some much needed books. Keep the blogs coming, we all look forward to them. Lots of Love Grace, Molly and Liz |
| 17th February 2009 Mansoor | Journey to Lahore - From: islamabad 2 I think it's great that you have the opportunity to visit these places in Pakistan...It's like no other country!!! The journey to Lahore should take around 6-8 hours by care but it is a fairly dangerous one. I have heard stories of cars being stopped and people being robbed from. My advice would be not to stop at all on the journey!!! |
| 16th February 2009 kuly | All I want for Christmas is a weeding... - From: Winter Wedding Such is the life of any Punjabi, or for that matter any Pakistani nowadays. Good descriptions, nice photographs and all in all an interesting post. The 'shaadi' season in Punjab is all about being loud and extravagent and joining in the festivities. Some like to dance, others sing, while some just watch as the procession goes on. Christmas time is after all, all about celebration. In this part of the world though, it's all about the weddings. Keep up the good work! K |

| 30th January 2009 Jo Richmond | Inspiring - From: Winter Wedding Hi Jane and Geoff, What a long way you have come from sticky Jane's - love reading your blog - makes me feel I need to get out there and see a bit more of the world - weddings sound fantastic and fun - good recipe for over here I would say - which incidentally is about to be hit by winds from Russia - you've picked a good time to go what with the coldest winter for 13 years and the credit crunch - bet the FTSE price index doesn't even enter your thoughts!! Will continue to read about your antics keep up the good work - maybe they are ready for an elderly nurse!! Love Jo |
| 28th January 2009 Becca | - From: Work blog Hi there, I was just wondering what organisation you work for? I am wanting to do some charity/volunteering work in Pakistan, which I plan on travelling to in November but don't know how to go about looking for organisations that you don't have to pay to work for. The work you are doing sounds really intertesting, look forward to hearing more, Becca |
| 28th January 2009 Lesley and Lynne | Greetings from Cov - From: Winter Wedding Hi Both Lynne and I have just been reading your latest missive. Fantastic descriptions of the wedding ceremonies and your input and role. All sounds really good to those of us stuck here on a gloomy January day. Keep up the good work and let us know about your fundraising. Love to you both, Lynne and Lesley xx |
| 13th January 2009 judy | I will stop moaning - From: Work blog I have loved seeing this blog and I am going to try to show it to my class. It breaks your heart to see the lack of buildings and resources, and teachers of course. Keep up the good work! |
| 13th January 2009 Jane and Lorne | Classrooms! - From: Work blog I hear about standards of classrooms- its amazing to see it in reality. Literally nothing! And we moan when our ICT fails for one lesson! It looks like the more you get involved, the more we can see is needed. How desperate it all is. A generator would be a good start for when there is no electricity. What sort of books is needed for the library corner? and lastly, has Geoff perfected the harmonies to wheels on the bus? Keep the news coming. Thank you. |
| 12th January 2009 Tony Paplauskas | Catch you later! - From: Work blog Great photos, but no time to talk... Ofsted in school this week. Yes, honestly!! Catch you later. Tony. |
| 8th January 2009 Grace | Hope you get this one!! - From: Colonial Christmas Hi Jane, I've been keeping up to date with your blog and its wonderful. I did write to you, but as I'm a total technophobe I don't think you got it, hense the comment title, 'Hope you get this one!!' You certainly appear to be having an awfully big adventure! Look forward to the next installment. Happy New Year to all you VSOs. Love Grace |
| 4th January 2009 Amanda Sweet | Happy New Year! - From: Colonial Christmas Wishing you both a happy and even more exciting 2009! I'm loving the photos. It looks as if you're definitely living life to the max out there, and you've suddenly become an internet wiz!!! Best wishes x |
| 2nd January 2009 Lesley Markham | Happy New Year - From: Colonial Christmas I so look forward to your blog! What a great description of your Christmas. Good to know that your cooking skills sre still being put to good use, especially with Birds Custard. Our evening slouched on the sofa watching Mama Mia is certainly no match to your boardroom experience. Hope the New year is good for you. We are excitedly awaiting the birth of Penny's second baby at the end of Feb. We had all the family to stay (in phases) during xmas and especially loved seeing both Ewan and Casper. Your blog is spreading amongst family and friends. I'm often asked how you two are getting on before they say hello! Much love to you from John and Me Lesley xx |

| 14th December 2008 Tony P | No more performances! - From: Christmas cards Hi Both, Well Jane, you will no doubt remember the relief that descends on us as we wave farewell to the Christmas concert performances. Only the mayhem of a final week at school to endure. A lot of staff and children are falling victim to the cold and flu bug which is ravaging the country and I'm sure we'll have more tears before the end of term. Grace and myself have somehow got to fill the 'That's not Santa!' gap you've left. I think we'll perhaps assess the children on their knowledge of the piece with a 40min written response to the title: 'Is Christmas really a time for hats?'. If you can email me your email address, I'll send you a pretty Christmas card as I haven't got around to sending any real ones yet. Best wishes to you both, Tony. |
| 8th December 2008 Julie Reeve | - From: Scotland Really enjoying reading your blog! Sounds as though you are really enjoying your dream. Thinking of you. x The christmas doo will not be the same without you. x |

| 19th November 2008 margaret hunt | what an experience - From: internet problems! Hi to you both-Bill & I are both enjoying reading about your experiences. Breakfast is so much more interesting with your blog on my laptop and gives Bill & I something to discuss as after 48 years having breakfast together we do run out of things to say. Travelling-Bill says can he use his bus pass there? Also are there hairdressers locally.Trish & I went christmas shopping yesterday and had a successful day - can't believe there is a credit crunch as the shops are packed. thankyou for including us on your blog we are really enjoying your experiences Bill Margaret and Trish |
| 16th November 2008 Muhammad Anwar | Good experience at Sydan Wala form - From: internet problems! Dear Feoff and Madam jane, Nice to see your your blog. My village is near to Syedan Wala form "Maheen Mar", where my parents and other family lives. I was born in this village and when we were child, were lot of time to Syedan Wala Form in search of Grass etc. (food for our cattles). I studied till 5th class in my village school and then from class 6 to 8th in a nearby Village Ratti Pindi. Of course electricity in this area was installed in 1985-1988 otherwise we were without electricity. Now every body is enjoying mobile phone but till 2000 we have contact through a single line phones in each village. But you will be happy that born in that area, then I am working at Islamabad and I have my own luxury house at Islamabad where I am stying with my wife and children. Still on monthly basis visit to our village to see our parents. Still I feel lot of love with the area and our rural area are so innocent, lovely and hospitality is their culture. Be careful to swing in the nearby water canal as now water will be cold but we spent our days in the water canal during summer vacations. Enjoy you stay and take pure milk and if possible honey also. |
| 16th November 2008 Tony P | Not a million miles away? - From: internet problems! Hi Both, Glad to hear that everything (well almost) is going well so far. We've heard reports of troubles in Pakistan, so it's good to know you're both OK. As for the donkeys, flowing robes and strange head dresses you describe, it sounds very much like the Christmas production which we are on the verge of once more! I wonder if you'll really miss that this year? Just as in your neck of the world, we're still not sure what the work involves and yes it is difficult to pin teachers down - some ought to be nailed down for the greater good... We're missing you at yoga Jane and the numbers are dwindling - this might be our last half term unless I can badger anyone else into coming along. Make sure you don't forget your daily dose of 'downward dog' what with all that good food you seem to be consuming. Have you actually seen anyone or know of anyone practising yoga? I'll pass the info onto Fay before she goes off to Goa for a yoga retreat next year - not that I'm jealous of all these people who fly off to far away places. Got to go and brave Tesco's now, so here's wishing you both a strong internet connection and a guaranteed seat on the western toilet! Love, Tony. |
| 11th November 2008 Jane and Lorne | Awesome! - From: islamabad 2 It looks an absolutely fabulous experience. Keep the news coming. Hope you settle in well in your placement. Enjoy. |

| 7th November 2008 Carol Smith | Admiration - From: islamabad 2 Well Jane and Geoff I really must admit that I admire your bravery and commitment to what sounds like a very new and taxing journey. The amount of work you need to get through, the different language and way of life must be mind boggling. Both Graham and I admire you both and wish you well. There was an earthquake near Islamabad I believe did it affect you? Everything here plods along and must seem very mundane to you but that's life. Nights are dark now at 4.0-5.00pm and the days are not much better. What is the temperature like there has it colled any? Keep in touch. |
