I must say I must say the title of your blog caught my curiosity. India is really a magical place and definitely increases your libido. Just the hot, grimy sweat and the smells are enough to drive anyone into a s*x crazed minion--I should know, it happened to me when I was there.
Good on you My daughter and myself had every intention of doing the climb in April 2006 but chickened out. We did however get spectacular photos from Nallanthanni. Your photos have given us some hope that one day we may do the climb!! Good on you for climbing to the top; also thank you for sharing your photos with those of us who were too terrified to do the climb.
Refreshing change i am due to depart on an adventure around asia for 6 months and australia for a year in 2 weeks, i can't wait to go and i am very excited about the diverse cultures and breathtaking scenery that i've been hearing so much about. I just wanted to leave you guys a note to say how pleasantly refreshing it is to read a blog from somebody who is taking time to appreciate the joys that we have on our own doorstep. too many people nowadays are only interested in sunny weather, beaches and palm trees and forget how beautiful good old blighty can be! (p.s. don't get me wrong about the sunny weather, beaches and palm trees - i cant wait to get out of this god awful cold!) anon
Pondy Shopping.. I have been a visitor to PONDY many times. I must mention that the shopping here is so much better than most other places I have visited. There are the hanger-ons and touts, but in lesser numbers.
Beware and NEVER EVER enter any shop ownwd by a Kashmiri. They mark up prices 400% and haggle, and you end up paying double of what you would otherwise have paid....
One place I always visit is Khazaana on 338 Mahatma Gandhi rd.
It is a quaint boutique run by a young lady named Manju. She stocks the best Cottons (Punjabi Baggy Pants, Tops and other items..
Her collection of Silver bijoux is simply divine, and at prices which are extremely reasonably.
And as Manju is from Jaipur - land of Colors and camels and Kites, her Masala Tea is out of this world. just ask her, and she will serve it - gratis. And since she operates her establishment from her residence, you do not get the treatment of a customer, buta s a friend. The atmosphere is very casual, and Manju gives you a lot of advice and help.
A visit to Khazaana is a definite must for any visitor looking for gifts to take back home.
Nice suit Do you get to keep the suit? And to think you never want to dress up for Wortham ...
If you're wondering about the weather here - http://www.jcassidy.f2s.com/weather.html
Oh my God, knackering eh?! Actually, we were so bloody fit from cycling, it wasn't that bad. I could never do it now. After we got down again and had breakfast, we got on our bikes and cycled another 60 miles. I can't even cycle up the road without the help of an oxygen mask. Definitely must start to do some exercise. Not so easy with bambino numero on the way!
Isn't Sri Lanka wondeful? I'm amazed at the food thing though. We always ate traditional Sri Lankan food everywhere we went, and a great variety.
Just about to read your other blogs.
bye for now

Starlets .... and sure enough, the TV program called 'Cinemala' was aired on Asianet last Sunday at 8.30pm - 'Benny Hill' Hindi style! And so 4 starlets were born (well 2 of us were reborn - the re-runs of 'A place in the Sun' and 'Escape to the Country' aren’t doing much to prop up flagging TV careers!). Glad to hear you're having a ball. South India was beautiful will send info/pics as soon as we’ve caught up on sleep! Enjoy the rest of your trip. Jo&Prit
Some Honest Pictures of India For a change I see someone putting some honest pictures of India.not the usual beggers, cows and snake charmers!!!
hope you have a nice time in India
Loving Kerala So glad that Kerala has finally stopped raining and you're enjoying it! I was starting to feel a bit responsible. Hope that you like Cochin - I loved it. There was a cool cafe just opened when I was there, with real coffee and cakes if you fancy a change from curry! There's also some great furniture to be had... Take care, Cathy xxx
So many memories Blimey you have been to every place I went, its fantastic isn't it. I think Udaipur was one of my favorite places. Its a shame you didn't manage to get to Jialasamer (sp?) (The Golden City in the desert) which is amazing. Really want to go back to India I just loved the hustle bustle smells and the colour. Have you come across any festivals yet, and tried your hand at Garber (sp?) dancing? There was a festival on when we went to Udaipur and the whole town converged in the centre for a masive party and all the locals got us to dance (we were the only tourists there) it was an amazing experience. However you seem to have done India in more style than I did, no luxury boats or rooms for me. I stayed at the 20p a night places which were intersting. Keep having a great time and enjoy every last minute of it. Sally x
Cardboard I'm beginning to wonder of Steve and Lou aren't actually in India at all and they've done a sly one by sending cardboard cut-outs of themselves to be posed in various locations. I've never seen two pairs of the most fixed smiling expressions anywhere! Trip looks great and the keep the blogs coming. Wayne
Aptly Named Well, would you explain why the building is called 'The Four Winds' I presume this is an understatement!!!!!
What a fantastic country thank you for giving us an insight, we are in awe.
Keep smiling and well.
X Dad
Rich - Both mums have apparently got them married off as soon as they get back - Lous mum is however a bit worried about the cost of Saint Pauls cathederal !
Enjoy yourselves in Sri Lanka and keep clear of the Tamil Tigers in the north.
