Hangovers and Holidays We need to see photos of the Salsa lesson. Sounds like the holidays in Columbia are a party waiting to happen. Glad you are experiencing the hospitality and embracing all life has to offer.
Smiling as we read People who have not taken to the road for an extended period of time do not understand how tiring travel can be. We've gotten to the point where we like to settle for one week and regroup every four to six weeks. Otherwise we get sensory overload. Glad you are enjoying the slower pace. No telling how many wonderful things you will uncover.
Columbia It is great that you've stopped to take a Spanish course and great being in that part of the world for the World Cup. We will check out the Salt Cathedral when we get there.
Foodie you two! Great encapsulation and photos of Peruvian cuisine! I'm more of a veggie eater, now in Arequipa scarfing down the amazing varieties of tropical fruits, juices, potatoes, and huacachina sauce from the market. Your photos are so tempting, I might try some fishy beasts when I hit the coast. You really could be a food writer--I look forward to more of your blogs!
It sounds and looks amazing! You have just made me super super excited to start my trip there next week although I am worrying a bit about the Inca Trail! Hopefully I'll make it up there okay but the altitude sickness sounds horrid. It should all be worth it in the end though :)
Beautiful photo! Been enjoying your recent photos of Central American wildlife - this one is a gem! What perfect timing to catch that sight. Happy travels!
Looks Fantastic! Love that Beach!! It sounds like a wonderful place, and from what I read reminds me of the Cayes off Belize in the early 90's. I am ready to book my ticket for next year, thanks for the heads up on the place. Keep having fun and stay safe. Can't wait to see more of your adventure!
Sounds like quite the asventure! Loved your boat story, and not one bit surprised it didn't go as planned! I am sure while you were going through it you felt a bit scared or upset not knowing what's going on, but as a traveler we all know how the worst stories usually turn out to be the best stories later. Can't wait to see some pictures of Corn Island as I plan on going soon. Thanks for the tip on Monterrico, but still itching a week later lol! Stay safe and have a great time!
Sounds interesting Almost decided to go to El Salvador for a few days but think I will save it for another trip. Having a great time in Antigua! Been here many times but always interesting. Heading to the lake tomorrow! Sounds like San Salvador is not a place to hang out but hope your heading to the beach, can't wait to see what your new adventures your trip bring you. Stay safe and thanks for the tip on Monterico! Be posting my blog tomorrow so check It out if you have time. Kimberly
Sounds like you had fun! Heading there in a few weeks. It has been a several years since my last trip to Monterrico but going back because traveling with a friend that would like to go. My question is how bad were the bugs? Also have any suggestions on restaurants that are a must? I don't remember a lot of choices but imagine they're many more now. What hotel did you stay at and would you recommend one over others? Thanks for any ideas you can offer. Can't wait to see what adventures you have south! Be safe and keep having a great time!
Monterrico Hi Kimberly
we stayed at El Delfin and to be honest we didn't really leave there much as they had everything, really nice pool, a restaurant on the beach and one at the back. We were told about another restaurant that was meant to be nice but we didnt make it. It was the owner of El Delfin that told us about it so just ask him or his wife for recommendations. The only bugs that were a problem were mosquitos but all of the rooms have nets and the restaurant puts out those coil things under every table. It was super hot so all we really did was move from pool to bar to beach. Enjoy!
Over the past ten years we have travelled to over 30 countries across 5 continents and we now now find ourselves in South America where we plan to settle for a time and work as English teachers. Where? We're not sure but we're enjoying ourselves as much as we can while we try and find out.
