Not really much to report except that Thursday was Weetwood which is where the entire town gets really dressed up and goes to the horse races. It was kinda fun, but also incredibly lame at the same time. One, we woke up at about 8 in order to get dressed up nicely in time for the 9am Champagne Breakfast. It was delicious. We waited around for about an hour and a half for our taxi to get there. At that point one of the guys was getting really ancy so he called Dominos and the following conversation happened...a gem: Aaron: Hi, do you deliver? Dominos dude: Yes we do, sir. Aaron: Great. There’s a lovely Japanese Gardens right by campus and the only time that I’ve been through it was when it was a handy shortcut to my friend’s house. This weekend we had absolutely perfect weather and I decided that it would be the perfect time to go on a nice little excursion to it. I’m writing this without the pictures on hand because my friend took them on his digital camera but I’m sure you’ll be able to see everything that I’m talking about when I do get them uploaded. You walk into the gardens and it is like you are immediately transported into a REAL Japanese Garden! Hello readers! I've actually got a few messages from people and that's always encouraging. It is so much easier to do things when you know people are actually reading and/or expecting an update. Nothing's really happened; I'm only updating so people don't think I've died or been abducted by some crazy kangaroo. I was poking about for a job and what I thought was the perfect job appeared...a polo trainer! Now, I don't know the slightest bit ab out Polo, but I know and love horses. The guy was really nice and actually came and picked me up for the interview. The interview was actually just me "getting" to ride a horse! Toowoomba is really shaping up to be not so bad. I’ve really made a lot of new friends and finally some Aussies! (even a few Kiwi’s…Australia’s “special” cousins of New Zealand, lol…we don’t talk about them). I met this guy named Cameron from New South Wales and his brother’s name is Rhys…which I dunno if you know, but that’s one of my fave Celtic names…and from “new south wales” too…which is slightly ironic, I think. Before coming to Australia I didn't think that I would experience culture shock (or much, really) because our countries are so similar and they speak our language.
