hooray for Canadians, eh! Hey You!- um yeah...that guy was uber creepy. When you're in France...go to the bottom of the screen in cafes and switch the keyboard to US...it's similar enough, but has 5 letters that are different and just enough to screw you over!! Pay the extra 7 euro and go to the TOP of the eiffel! If you do it about 1 hour before sunset (it takes a while at the 2nd tier, you'll see what I mean) then you'll get to the top in time. Check out the safety signs in the Metro and inside the Eiffel elevator-they are pretty awesome. Enjoy Paris- My heart is there with you!!! J'espere etre a Paris, mais je doit travailler. Paix et gros bisous! ~ Em
You rock! Wow, honey! Way cool description. It's been so long since I've been down. You made me feel like I was there. But wait, I NEVER had any dive as cool as your second time out on the Reef. Good on you, mate!
CLOWNFISH!! I am so jealous...you finished your advanced cert before me!! and you saw a clownfish! THose pics are amazing, at least I've got a dive buddy for next year! Booyah
hey I enjoy reading your journal! You have some people who know who read...so HAH!!! I look forward to seeing you at home and discussing international culture and politics. Take care, see you soon. And make sure that you don't get left in Paris...I'll update my travel blog soon and tell the tale.
Enjoy the moment I understand how you feel. Every country in the world has areas of different outlook. You would not judge New York by the way people of Georgia act, in the same way you should not judge Australians by the way people from Toowoomba act.
Toowoomba is a "Nationals Party" heartland. This is a political party that is very rednecked. I would say it is well intentioned but still pro-white and very bias in it's outlook. Most of Australia is not like this, and the Nationals are a minor political party.
I have many aboriginal friends and we all share the same concerns, family, prosperity and doing the best for ourselves and the community. It is unfortunate that you have experienced a visit to Australia with a minority of people with rascist opinions. Toowoomba is a very small and insignificant part of Australia and it would be unfortunate to take away a view of this country based on those people. The "white law" that you refer to was the "White Australia Policy" related to immigration that was abolished over 40 years ago, not 10 years. Native people as you say are still treated under certain acts that the rest of Australians are not protected under. But these acts are in favour of Aboriginal people and they do not want them removed. They encompass land rights, ceremonial sites, customary laws and protection of their culture. Having spent 5 years working with aboriginal people, they have taught me a lot and one thing I understand is that their untimate progress must come from their own self determination protected by the rights that are currently legislated to them. It is ignorant to make assumptions without determining the facts and unfortunately many people who live in Toowoomba pretend to present facts as they would like them to be.
You look mahvelous! What a perfect horror so much of it was! I am only glad that you survived that midnight stroll. I'm going to have that tour driver's testicles on a platter!
You look great in the captain's hat. I realized that I have TWO children in officer's caps!
Love you,
Mom
Bonjour, France-bound Emily! Pardon my cross-post, but Emily, you should google me and look up the blogs I did on ajc.com. I've driven solo for a week and two weeks through France and you should really read my blog on souvenirs. I came up with a lot of cool stuff for a few euros. Where are you bound? Angers, perchance? I have some unpublished articles on Laval and an expanded version of the souvenirs blog if you'd like to read more.
CARLY!!!! roomie! I hope all gets better! I leave for france in about 35 days, and I am petrified....I'm sorry the diving sucked. When you get back to the states, we have to get together. Good luck finding everything! We are enjoying reading about your escapades here at Maryville. Have a good one, ttyl ~ Emily
Green Glitter Derby Becomes You! Begorra and don't your eyes look Irish, lassie! Who's the Paddy you're up close and personal with?
Love the Fightin' Irish! Kilometers - too funny!
Also love the account of the spider/yellow jacket violence! More blood! More guts! If it bleeds it leads!
Polo Ponies = Jackhammers Didn't I tell you I used to be a polo exercise boy? They ride like jackhammers. They are trained to stop and turn on a dime. A sweet and easy ride doesn't factor into it. Good for you for keeping your butt in the saddle. And way cool that your takeaway was that it was a fun and unique ride. I just fed Midori a carpenter ant today and he couldn't eat it cuz it was so crunchy. What would he say to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Ants of Oz?
:( sorry the horse thing didnt work out like you wanted, it would have maybe been better if you had been around horses for the past few years, or more interaction, but totally cool with the riding and staying on, and the wallabies. even maybe a stable job or something so you could have the interaction with the horses? but im sure there are alot more fun jobs than cleaning up poo. aussieland is one of the scary creepy crawly places with scorpions and stuff we dont have here... especially the mondo ants.
hope everythign else is going well. so weird with you being across the world... :( ttys

I am a teacher by trade and traveler by heart. Luckily my trade allows me to follow my heart :) Currently using my two month break to travel Europe and see the sites I missed on my last two trips. I write them quickly and on my ipad (usually) so please forgive the horrible writing mistakes. I will fix them at home when I don't have to pay for internet and have less interesting things to do :)... full info
