We are glad you are home! Your friends welcome you back with open arms and plenty of running opportunities to keep in shape!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us!!
a fantastic itinerary -impossible to beat! Hi there Cindy and Scott,
I've just happened to read or actually skim through the text , but I'm definitely going to read it all over and over again... There are things in life one cannot purchase and you definitely know what I am talking about! That was a life experience, especially for your kids. On seeing those wonderful photos, larger than life, makes me want to sail away myself...ok, let's get back to reality; I visited England and Scotland a couple of years ago and those photos brought back so many memories...and yes, Holland is a special place on Earth, I saw it and want to go back there...As to France, it remains a kind of down-to-earth romanticism...Do you agree that the Sacre Coueu has got that special light one cannot forget after seeing it (The ancient Latins would call it Illuminatio mea).
All I can say is, thanks for sharing your wonderful experience with my family and myself; wish you all the best !
Starbuck's!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What lovely pictures and adventures to share. I know that lovely sensation of a grande latte when all hope seems dashed...love keeping connected and sharing the journey a bit! Hugs
Europe sounds nice. What an awesome vacation you guys are enjoying! Something I would like to do some day. My interest lies in the Alps and a park outside of Paris called...well I can't spell it, but it sounds like "fountain blue". Kent turned me on to this blog. Now you'll have to convince him to do some more international travel himself (I mean other than Mexico). I'm sure after he visits us in China for Chinese New Year, Europe would be like cake. Is this your first time overseas?
Kids in Paris? I must admit that I was thinking that Paris was more for adults, but it does make perfect sense that there is plenty for kids and families as you are finding out. Good for you also to branch out and experience parts of Paris few visitors get to see. Just South of where you were in the 19th at the Parc de la Villette is another park that looks interesting called Parc de Buttes Chaumont. You may want to check it out if you haven't already. You could combine that with a visit to another up and coming Paris neighborhood which is a little further South from Chaumont. Belleville was once an independant commune that was annexed by Paris in the 1860s (like Montmarte). More importantly it is where Mr. Depp has a house.
Glad you got a chance to visit the Orsay. Hopefully Scott takes the opportunity too.
je vous aime Ah, mes chers. merci a dieu, on est finalement a paris. J'espere que je y sois avec les sornbergers. Mais non, je reste toujours a Atlanta
Bienvenue Now you really are "Sornbergers in France." Switzerland looked fun, but cold. You really should have brought some long pants. It looks like Scott, Justin, and Will have been in shorts since June--even at 10,000 feet. While in Alsace (if you haven't moved on already) make sure to have some Flammkuchen (tarte flambee in French). It is a pizza kind of dish. Very tasty. Sure to be available at Brasseries or Alsatian restaurants in Paris too. Bon Appitite.
All's well that ends well. Nothing like a little stress to let you appreciate it when things go right. Not that there is anything too bad about having to stay in a fancy hotel w/ a jacuzzi in Italy. But for the lodging issues your time in and around Lucca sounded great. Nice picture of you with your street. Hopefully it got it's name for a good reason and not for some infamous act committed by one of your forebearers. Chianti area should be wonderful. Next stop Paris?
Back Up Glad to see the new postings, and that the prior ones have been recovered. Croatia and Slovenia looked great. Croatia, it seems, is becoming more of a popular destination especially the coast. From your description of the crowds it definitely appears to have been "discovered." Wouldn't traveling be great if everyone else would just stay home?
Picture "Krakow 8 Has anyone seen that movie "Hostel" the very graphic horror flick? Now look at Cindy's picture titled "Krakow 8" doesn't that look like a scene from the movie? Cute little car you guys. Hope everyone is well and happy. Love ya Kim
So lame Dear friends and family-
We are so lame. All of your treasured comments were piling up. I had no idea they were here or what to do. I even accused my dear friend Ashley of ignoring me. :) Dave told me I "had to do something." I had no idea what he was talking about. So...this morning while everyone was sleeping...I figured it out. I did it Dave. Please send more. We love you all. Keep reading...and writing back! We miss you!
honey, are you getting comments? just back today from beunos aires. very tired. don't want to carry on if you're not getting comments.
love the blog.
ashley
friend and avid blog reader! I fogot to tell you about a great store in Rothenburg and now it's too late!! Did you see the Christmas Store on the main plaza, it's Kathy something and my friend lauri and I spent about 4 hours and hundreds of dolalrs there 4 years ago... I still have all the ornaments and decorations I bought there... glitzy but great indulgence! While you're in Germany and Austria look for Christmas stores! ps I LOVE driving the autobahns and autoroutes, can't be too fast for me! Hugs to all. Kd
Laundrette As usual so funny! No, you will NOT kill each other before the adventure is done... you said it, you need each other!! One with a map, one without!! One complaint, where are the photos??? Terry and I both LOVED Brugge and we visited the surrounding countryside visitng the WWI and WWII museums and battlegrounds, Battle of the Bulge, etc... the boys might like these areas... can't wait for the next posting... can scott write or are you the only creative one?

Keeping up! LOVED your first "diary" entry and Will's new nickname! I won't share that with Terry though! I'm "telling you so" right now, I TOLD you this would be the adventure of a lifetime, it is already proving so! Will follow your blog with envy and interest... hugs to all, Kd
You're a blogger I'm glad to see the blog is up and running. This will be a great way to keep up with you as well as get first hand reports on some parts of the world we might not get the chance to see. You should be in Bath by now (June 25 at 5:45 PM your time). I look forward to hearing (reading? seeing?) all about your time there.
The news from Northern California includes warm temps., Pride Weekend in SF, and the Giants snapping an 8 game losing streak by beating the Yankees twice this weekend.
We went down the coast to Pescdero yesterday to check out the historic town (some buildings are over 100 years old!), bird watch in a coastal marsh, and hang out on the beach.
It's not Europe, but we may at least have you beat in the weather department.
Dave--
Thanks! Hi Sornberger's: Well, this is so exciting. I feel as if I'm in London all over again. I'm sure Kelli will agree as well. Please keep us updated with wonderful comments like this - especially from the kids' perspectives - so refreshing! Technology is so wonderful that we get to visit Europe vicariously through the Sornberger's! Yeah!
