I'll make sure you don't have to exercise too much when you get here Wednesday...
as we are at 8500 ft. I'm looking forward to our visit!
16th May 2013

See you soon...
at which time I will suggest that you also visit Jasper National Park. The drive between Banff and Jasper is beautiful, as is the stop at Lake Louise.
9th May 2013

I will send you a private message regarding your visit...
I'm looking forward to talking about your travel plans...and of course your past travels. I think you are going to like Woodland Park. Our fall is especially gorgeous with the gold aspen leaves.

You don't have to miss the dry, coolness of Colorado if you move here...
I returned from my RTW on 17 Apr and took a couple days to settle in before reading your blogs that you were in Colorado. I saw that you were publishing a couple weeks after the events, so assumed that you were back in Texas by then, so didn't comment. David and Merry Jo recently suggested that I contact you, so I gave them this explanation. Now I see you are going to be back in Colorado in mid-May. Hopefully you have time in your schedule to swing by Woodland Park, on US24 just 30 miles west of the Springs, and add to the collection of TB get together pictures! You just might be inspired to move here, as this was our choice after visiting all 50 states. BTW, two of my nephews are Aggies, so I've been to College Station...not somewhere I would want to retire! A few Texans agree with me...it seems like half of Woodland Park residents moved here from Texas.

visit
I will be home basing at my nephew's house in Denver while in Colorado. While there I will be sure to visit you guys at your most convenience. I will certainly be spending some time visiting Colorado Springs again and can swing by then. I may eventually home base in Colorado for good but can't see buying any property anywhere and "settling down". I intend to go with the seasons. For example I am going to invest the summer visiting National Parks again in the Rockies. Then in the Fall I will go to Greece and the islands again. I haven't firmed up plans for winter yet but am looking at going to New Zealand next Spring which should be Fall there. Fall is my favorite time of year.

Yellow rose of Texas...no they look red
You've got to distinct temps going. Nice looking dog. Some day soon summer will arrive in Denver.
9th May 2013

summer
I enjoyed the cool and low humidity Colorado weather. If that means a snowstorm every now and then that's great as I can relax and enjoy it looking out the window. As summer approaches in Texas I am making my escape to Colorado and then intend to head north up the backbone of the continent as summer sets in there. : > )

Colorado Rocky Mountain High
Those mountains are full of snow this spring. Unusually late snows. Sounds like you made a great decision with your detour....rather than sitting in the traffic. When will you go back to Colorado?

Returning to Colorado
I'm planning on returning to Colorado around the 15th of May. I'll explore the Denver area at my leisure making day trips or overnight loops out of Denver. The Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park doesn't open till Memorial Day so I will do it then. After a bit I will head up to the Grand Tetons and Glacier again and perhaps Banff in Canada depending on the weather. That's the plan for now at least.

The snows are late this year
You should be enjoying spring flowers. I'll bet it is already hot in Austin. That is a wicked looking pizza. Hope you had a good time visiting.

correction
To be fair I updated my blog today. When I turned the car back in I told them about what happened on the insurance and that I had said I didn't want the PAI/PEI or the Roadside assistance coverage, and they removed the charges from the bill without complaint. So I was well pleased about that. So I ended up paying $369 for the rental car and CDW for the week. A very good rate for the use of a 2013 SUV for a week with unlimited mileage. I spent a full week in the Denver area and will update my blogs when I get back to College Station, Texas. I had two snowstorms while I was in Denver and as a Texan I would have been disappointed if I had not been able to get some snow. There was plenty in Rocky Mountain National Park when I went there.

Setting up my kitchen

immersible heater
My little immersible heater for heating up water for my tea came in real handy. I was also glad to see that in Mexico they use 110V just as in the US.

We need quiet at night
Balancing a budget and getting some sleep can be a tough process on the road. For us the quiet night always beats the budget.

it's the challenge
To me it's not so much about staying within a budget as it is about the challenge of living a bit closer to the bone for the experience of it. The Pension California was a bit of a trial but I wanted to check it out to satisfy my curiosity. And curiosity is what made the cats life interesting. The Yeneka and the Cabo Inn really had some interesting people staying there that were fun. So two out of 3 isn't bad. : )

We are old fashioned also.
Yesterday we were in an Applebee's and the music was incredibly loud. We asked if they could turn it down just a little. Guess they didn't need our business because they turned it up. We left shortly after that and went next door to eat. That is usually not a problem at Applebee's.

loud music
Yes , places in which the staff feels the music is for their benefit instead of for the enjoyment of their customers really annoy me. Places like that lose customers because of their actions but instead of considering the real reason for the loss they blame it on the economy, the government or somthing else. They forget that pleasing customers is the only reason they are there.

I've always wanted to go to La Paz and Loreto
I will someday make it to Loreto. I've read it is amazing. Let us know if you get there. I'd like to hear your impressions.
17th February 2013

Loreto
I won't make it to Loreto this trip. I will have to save that for later. I'm heading back to Cabo tomorrow and then back to Tejas on Wednesday.

pretty much
Pretty much.....except that everything is labeled in Spanish so that makes it a bit of a challenge.
