I have always enjoyed election campaigns - fighting them, watching them and talking about them - so it is an added bonus to be in the biggest democracy in the world while its election campaign is in full swing. I claim no expertise in Indian politics and I wouldn't, therefore, presume to offer any more than some impressions that I pick up reading papers, talking to locals and watching the local current affairs channels, some of which are devoting their entire programing to the election. In a country of over 1 billion you would expect, hope even, that there would be more than the 2 strong parties we have had for most of federation in Australia.
