nice; enjoyed your description of the places as it was spiced with a sense of humour; I am glad for you that you did it; something that no one can take away from you and trust is treasured for the rest of your life!
Just so you know Just to let you know, one of the founding stones of sikhism was to collect everyone (hindus/muslims) and feed them together so they learn to live together in peace and friendship. The food service comes from doanations and is called Langar. You can enjoy a langar anywhere in the world in any sikh temple.
A very nice blog,
I am glad you have made it home safely. I have really enjoyed reading all your blogs and have found them very useful. I will keep in mind all the things you have written about when I visit all thse places you went to. (I might give India a miss though especially if I am on my own.) I have been to Japan and found it as amazing as you did. I didn't know what to expect before I went there, but I was pleasantly surprised at what a fantatsic place it was and how polite and friendly the people were. Sounds like you have had an amazing experience that you will never forget. I am so proud of you for doing this and being so strong and not getting pushed around. Well done:)
Vienna I'm going to miss writing the blogs too! During the trip I carried a notebook everywhere, and would stop on the street or sometimes write while I was walking. Writing down the things that I noticed forced me to be more attentive to the surrounds. So today I walked to the Vienna Opera, and reached into my bag to take out my camera (except I didn't bring it with me, because who goes sightseeing in their own town?!) - I started to look at Vienna in a different light today.
10/10 Home at last. What a wonderful insightful last page on your blog! You should be a writer; I have been very impressed with all your dispatches. And I am glad you like photography it can be very rewarding, especially when you share your results as you have with us. What a shame you could not have had two of those three weeks holiday (in Vienna) in say, Johannesburg or Cape Town (or, hey, Australia!) but I can understand what claustrophobic conditions can do to one’s spirit. Enjoy your vacation.... (what about little trips to Bratislava or Prague?) and be refreshed in body, mind and spirit when you do return to work. I hope you don’t have water restrictions on those showers like we’ve had in Oz. Thank you again so much for such meaningful and entertaining correspondence. And Grandma Pope has enjoyed reading them, too. Look forward to an update on the photos? X -Nigel and Margie.
I'm glad you made it back in one piece li'll Silvi! :) I'm gonna miss your blogs so be sure to keep mailing me, I'm far but near (.."coz you're hot then you're cold, you're yes and you're no"....damn this Katy Perry madness!)

ooooooooooooooh Oh man, this entry made me laugh so much, I FEEL YOUR PAIN! Everyday in India can be a victory, but yes, it also has so, so, so many beautiful sides that you only discover once you've dealth with the fucking hardship of the big cities. Anyway, we'll go again! (ok, I'm not a big black guy, but I do have some muscles:)
At least you didn't get sucked in by India and are coming back...tomorrow, woohoo!!
photo model Ha! Karlijn and I had the same in Sri Lanka and Indonesia, but at least people had the courtesy to ask us if they could take a picture! One more country.. make the most of it!
China, girl Glad to hear you've been enjoying this part of China. And quite the centre of attraction! Good on you, Sylv., and I hope India treats you well too. Guess the trip is coming to an end soon; will you be going back to your old job or trying something different? Or coming home for a visit so we can see all your photos? Cheers, Nigel and Margie
Are you alright???!!! Silvi!
Have not seen your messages for quite a while... Is everything OK? Are you alright? Please let the public know what is going on!!!
You speak Mandarin??? I didn't know that! I knew you could understand and speak a little, but I didn't know you could actually *speak* speak it :D Haha, you're so totally un-asian, and yet you're more asian than me :D
I remember when my workmate first met you (he's ABC), he was trying to figure out which strange European accent you had, took him a whole day and a half to realise it was a Singaporean accent :p
what a pace! Konbanwa Sylvia! You saw such a lot again in such a short time; after the wide expanses of South America, a ride on the Bullet Train must have seemed like a luxury. I'm glad you saw Kyoto, the old capital with all its wonderful temples and shrines. What different cultures you are encountering in your interesting adventures. Blog on, dear girl, blog on so we can ride along. X Nigel
Keep the adventure stories coming Sil Loving hearing what your up to - even if it is making me jealous! Tokyo should be modern crazy awesome fun, and China will be back to south american buzy crazy awesome fun!
travel fat Some people have too much to eat; the more they eat the more they want... can that be the same with travellers? You sure are continuing to see and learn so much. Some food junkies hoard it all to themselves. Now this travel junkie, she shares it with all of us, and that's what's so nice about you Sylv! X
Awesome :) Photos are cool, I like photos :) They all look so awesome, the ones at the salt plains are SO COOL. And then Christo the Redeemer. And all the other ones. So awesome! And you're looking great too :)
