Hi 2 Tracy from Romania Hey Girls!!!
To answer your questions...
~ The weather is about the same as the Bay Area.. cold in the mornings but hot by noon.
~ The building I'm in is relatively small (compared to what we're used to for schools) but it's very well kept and feels like a home.
~ I'm not sure how big the city is but it is a capitol city and big enough to have to take a bug across it. So I probably couldn't walk around the whole thing in one day, let alone comfortably.
~ and Yes, I am learning so much Romanian Language it's crazy. I can say I am an only child and my cat is my sister. :) "Nu frate o sora, my (mi) prisica es mi sora"... pronunciation is a bit tricky but I'll get there.
I miss everyone SO much and can't wait to do more so I can tell you all about it... XOXO
Tell people you're Canadian? This is a good idea outside of Romania, but having traveled many times inside Romania, I"ve found that the vast majority of people really like Americans and are keen to talk, ask questions and get to know you better.
Drum Bun! Draga Jenisa: Glad to read your post, Ancuta also wrote me that you arrived safely. Love your blog.
Te Iubesc (love ya)
Connie
PS Drum Bun means 'bon voyage' in Romanian!

hi from tracy saw your first blog, sounds like u r having fun. will check your blog every day. how is the weather over there? is it nicer than in california. are u in a big building or a small building ? how big is the city ? can't wait 2 read your next entry. i already miss u. xoxo gabrielle
Safe Traveling (Trains/Buses) So I'm sure you may have heard this but make a copy of your passport in either color or black and white just to have some paper copies (2 or 3) lying around. This keeps you from having to carry your real one around all the time, its heavier and annoying plus reduces the chances of it getting lost or stolen. A copy with you at all times is sufficient.
Also, when I traveled abroad, I kept a copy along with money in my shoe whenever I could just to be prepared and have a backup plan. You can say I was paranoid or whatever but it was always good just in case the absolute worst case scenario were to happen.
One more thing, when traveling with a backpack on a train or bus, wear it on your front. Limits pickpocketing. If you are in a group, gather around in a circle facing each other and keep your packs on your fronts.
**Just some friendly travel advice. Be safe and have a blast**
What an adventure! Jenisa: You will remember this trip for the rest of your life, now you will understand why I love Romania with a haunting passion and return there again and again...plus, for the kids you will help with your workshops, this will be a significant positive impact on their young lives.
Hey All,
I'm in Romania from July 28th-Aug 28th, 2008. I will be interning at a childrens shelter. For the first 2 weeks I will be in the city of Cluj, the capital of Transylvania (oooo spooky). After that I am taking a train out to the "country" and visiting Timisiara which is a little bit less mondernized. I'll be keeping in touch as much as possible on this blog so that everyone can experience my adventure with me!
XOXO... full info
