Hi Hi, I am a NewZealander just happen to pass on this fourm on the internet. I had a read through and think that things has changed alot since 2005. Now, the money is something like 1 NZ= 2 US and so on, like 3=6.Now a lot of the taps ARE one spout.
taps (faucets) in NZ Hi,
your blog is so funny, it gives me a different perspective on my own country. for your tap problem, you should have both taps running at the same time, cup your hands, fill it with cold water, then fill it a little bit with hot water, and you get lukewarm water to wash your face! wow kiwi ingenuity i know.. hahaha..
Wierd... About your taps, most households have combined spouts with the lever thing you twist about to get the ideal temperature of water, only old houses don't have them. I'm guessing you're probably staying in University accomodation, which is usually cheap and crappy. And also what do you mean by, "what is a mince anyway??" a mince pie is a pastry case filled with mince (minced beef) and gravy. Savoury and delicious!
Hey Bula, you are outdoing yourself!! Thanks for the awesome updates of you holiday, I am stoked that you are having such a good time.
Love always Ngaire
Happy new year How wonderful!!! All the NZ kids back together again!! I wish I was there too, I celebrated the new year at a dub concert in a Gisborne winery, pretty different from FRANCE!
Love Ngaire
The card was from CHARTRES! Well, I meant to say I loved the card from Chartres, (not Chamonix), but I was so enamored of the photos of Chamonix, I forgot my French!
Merci beaucoup! Shelly, I loved the card you sent from Chamonix. I cut off the cover and taped it to my bedroom windowpane so that the sun shines through the stained glass window reproductions. It's beautiful.
So glad you and Phil enjoyed Chartres (and everything else). Your web site is wonderful (Thanks to Mary Henry for telling me about it!)

It has been a pleasure Hi Shelly, It was good having you here for xmas and I am glad that you liked it. Well, I still have some remarks about the blog entry. Firstly, we had Gluehwein and Feuerzangenbowle. It is called Christkindlmarkt or Weihnachtsmarkt. Furthermore - and that is really important to us Germans - it the the Autobahn and we had no Sauerkraut for dinner... Never! Only the "funny" bavarians have it... Ok, I just had some for dinner too.. But there was no Sauerkraut for Xmas dinner! ;-) And last but not least the Husum Aquarium is called Multimar Wattforum and is in Toenning ;-) Despite all this it was an awesome time with you! Miss you heaps and hope to welcome you soon again! Your NZ bro Christian

Well Shell, again you've introduced us to cities we know little of, and they are all certainly worth visiting some day. I only hope that we will be so lucky to do half of the things you are doing!! What memories you're creating...you have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving week! Have a yummy turkey dinner, sweetie! We miss you!! SWAK! M

The Loire Valley Shelly, lovin' your latest adventures. If I were there I would do exactly the same things! Keep up the pictures and notes, they are so historic and funny too!
By the way, when you get ready to come home, I would love some sweet white wine from the Loire Valley. I first drank some in Paris myself when I was young, and then a French friend recommended them again a few years ago. Write me at gamboa_brenda@emc.com if you can bring back some wine. I will of course pay for it! Have a wonderful time! All my best to you, Brenda.
Oh my! Tours is beautiful, Shell! I see why you plan to be a repeat visitor. The Chateau is gorgeous, the cathedral, very impressive! You've actually stood at the foot of Davinci's grave, yes Mr. Hanks would be envious, I'm sure! Keep having fun, sweetie, all eyes are on you! Love to Kelly, SWAK! M
Pretty little town! Looks like Chatellerault is lovely, Shell. The river's pretty, and architecture too. I love the little house. Glad the weather's been good. And you're having no problem making new friends. I'm sure adjusting to the new culture, language, etc. can be somewhat tiring, but as time passes, it'll be easier. You're resourceful, so I'm confident you'll find many new and interesting ways to fill your down time. Not only will you learn about the history and culture of France, etc, but also about yourself! We should all be so blessed! SWAK! M
Ahhhh, to be in Paris again... How do I love Paris? Let me count the ways! It is such an extraordinarily beautiful city, didn't I tell you Shell? You've retraced my steps thirty years (choke) ago, and now my excitement is rekindled! Thanks for taking such wonderful pictures of your visit...because when I was there, all I had was a ten dollar Kodak Instamatic! The pics from my visit are aging faster than I am! SWAK! M
