YAY So happy to hear about all of the "hitching." You know we'll be there and Lex is coming out as well... I can't wait to get the full story. Hope all is well. I check this thing basically daily, it just takes me awhile to be able to comment. Later!
Hey Shay, say howdy to Mandan for me... and your mom... and Bailey. All is well in WA. Glad to hear that your car battery didn't die. Thanks for stopping by. Great to meet you Kate! Good Travels.
!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!
Sorry I've been rotten about writing/commenting, but rest assured that I've been devotedly (devoutly?) following your blog -- and am so happy to hear the good news!!! Can't wait to congratulate you both in person. I'm leaving Pgh for Gainesville this Friday (am currently sitting in a heap of boxes and unpacked junk) and will be all-moved-in before you guys get back to Atlanta. Let's meet up -- in Atlanta, or Gainesville, or somewhere in between -- after you return from your adventures.
YAY Glad to see/read you two are okay. Wondering where in the heck you 4 troublemakers were now? All the pics look awesome, can't wait to see more (HINT HINT!). Hope Bela has chilled out and happy to hear Emma G's paws are better. Talk to you sometime.... Audrey
Cle Elum Lake Ya know, I have passed that lake numerous times in my formative years, and have never stopped at it. Maybe it was because it was because I was always traveling to or from Wenatchee (when it was so small that it only had 1 Denny's) and wanted to get out of the eastern Washingtonsummer weather.
You missed a 5.0 ...earthquake, that is - last night (Tuesday)...or should I say this morning at 4:41 - off the mouth 8 miles from Petrolia, and 13 miles deep. Zeb called at 8 this morning to see how big it was, and I went on-line to find out. His growing up near Reno didn't let him experience such things! He's fine with it. Nothing fell down, but it was about 10 seconds long.
Am glad that your windshield is repaired, and sorry that you missed the ferry!
I found your detergent by the washer...you probably already know that.
Love, Mama/Claire
Wow, y'all, it sounds like you're having a great time! Kate, I remember how much the Lost Coast meant to you. I'm so glad you got to take this trip with your lovely lady!!
Fond memories! Just the mention of Humboldt brought back a flood of memories from the years that I lived in Crescent City and made frequent trips to Arcata and Eureka. The entire coastal highway between Smith River at the Oregon/CA border and San Francisco is my all time favorite. Prarie Creek Redwoods State Park, esp. Fern Canyon trail, is the beyond words kind of beautiful. I'm really looking forward to seeing some of your photos from Northern CA. Continued happy travels Shay and Kate.....Denise
...and another thing: when you drive in, use the Hawk Creek way, as the other gate is locked - will pick up a key for you when in town that day. Will also get many avo's, and perhaps some artichokes, if they look any good. Got your message that you're in Bakersfield - call me tonight. Love, Mama/Claire
Hot here ...so am planning a lot of inside jobs just for part of the day, so you can play and I can work on MRC stuff. Get ready to carry plywood sheets!
Love,
Mama/Claire
Great Pictures Hi, enjoyed the pictures and news about your trip. The picture of Emma makes her look ferocious! I'm home now and Bailey is happy. Talk to you soon.
Exciting! I was beginning to wonder where y'all were. So glad things are going well. Can't wait to see you both (well four). Keep snapping pics and we'll see you soon! :)
feeling much better Whatever it is that I'm afflicted with, it is now mostly gone. Strange stuff. It goes as fast as it shows up. I must've tracked something into the tent from my sandals or something when we were at Petit Jean.
We're Shay and Kate, a couple of 31 year old grrls who live in Atlanta, GA and who are very much in love with each other, travel, and the great outdoors.
As of June 12th, 2006, we, our two dogs (Emma and Bela), and our Subaru (packed with all the gear it can carry) are embarking on an epic 10 week road trip around the US. We'll be camping, hiking, backpacking, exploring, and visiting with family and friends.
We'll be covering 24 states and over 8000 miles on our journey, so there will be plenty of time to blog away from the passenger seat. Here is a link to a [url=http://www.travelblog... full info
