I can't wait to get the full story. Hope all is well. I check this thing basically daily, it just takes me awhile to be able to comment. Later! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| 31st July 2006 Anja | !!!!!!!!! - From: Announcements and "Howdy" from Mandan/Bismarck Congratulations!!! Sorry I've been rotten about writing/commenting, but rest assured that I've been devotedly (devoutly?) following your blog -- and am so happy to hear the good news!!! Can't wait to congratulate you both in person. I'm leaving Pgh for Gainesville this Friday (am currently sitting in a heap of boxes and unpacked junk) and will be all-moved-in before you guys get back to Atlanta. Let's meet up -- in Atlanta, or Gainesville, or somewhere in between -- after you return from your adventures. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Wondering where in the heck you 4 troublemakers were now? All the pics look awesome, can't wait to see more (HINT HINT!). Hope Bela has chilled out and happy to hear Emma G's paws are better. Talk to you sometime.... Audrey 20th July 2006 | Jesterspet Cle Elum Lake - From: Past the halfway point | Ya know, I have passed that lake numerous times in my formative years, and have never stopped at it. Maybe it was because it was because I was always traveling to or from Wenatchee (when it was so small that it only had 1 Denny's) and wanted to get out of the eastern Washingtonsummer weather. 20th July 2006 | Claire/Mama You missed a 5.0 - From: Past the halfway point | ...earthquake, that is - last night (Tuesday)...or should I say this morning at 4:41 - off the mouth 8 miles from Petrolia, and 13 miles deep. Zeb called at 8 this morning to see how big it was, and I went on-line to find out. His growing up near Reno didn't let him experience such things! He's fine with it. Nothing fell down, but it was about 10 seconds long. Am glad that your windshield is repaired, and sorry that you missed the ferry! I found your detergent by the washer...you probably already know that. Love, Mama/Claire 10th July 2006 | Marieke - From: We survived the backpacking. | Wow, y'all, it sounds like you're having a great time! Kate, I remember how much the Lost Coast meant to you. I'm so glad you got to take this trip with your lovely lady!! 5th July 2006 | Clairesoula Nice Shave - From: Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! Part 1... | About time you joined the "shave your head" club. I feel retroactively loved and solidarified.-- 29th June 2006 | Scott BAKERSFIELD!! - From: Sequoia National Forest and Bakersfield | BAKERSFIELD 28th June 2006 | northwoods1 Fond memories! - From: Sequoia National Forest and Bakersfield | Just the mention of Humboldt brought back a flood of memories from the years that I lived in Crescent City and made frequent trips to Arcata and Eureka. The entire coastal highway between Smith River at the Oregon/CA border and San Francisco is my all time favorite. Prarie Creek Redwoods State Park, esp. Fern Canyon trail, is the beyond words kind of beautiful. I'm really looking forward to seeing some of your photos from Northern CA. Continued happy travels Shay and Kate.....Denise 26th June 2006 | Liza - From: Sequoia National Forest and Bakersfield | Hi Audrey & Erin! (And you guys. ;) ) 23rd June 2006 | Claire/Mama ...and another thing: - From: Hualapai Mountain Park | when you drive in, use the Hawk Creek way, as the other gate is locked - will pick up a key for you when in town that day. Will also get many avo's, and perhaps some artichokes, if they look any good. Got your message that you're in Bakersfield - call me tonight. Love, Mama/Claire 23rd June 2006 | Claire Mama Hot here - From: Hualapai Mountain Park | ...so am planning a lot of inside jobs just for part of the day, so you can play and I can work on MRC stuff. Get ready to carry plywood sheets! Love, Mama/Claire 21st June 2006 | Scott no comment - From: New Mexico and Phase 1 of Arizona | stop drawing on the rocks and bothering the animals 21st June 2006 | bobby dog tent - From: New Mexico and Phase 1 of Arizona | the dog tent rules. 21st June 2006 | Liza Purty! - From: New Mexico and Phase 1 of Arizona | Sorry to hear about the poison ivy! Know it's 100+ here but our air conditioner is less than 4 months old and keeps our house very cool. We have a bedroom all made up for you and it's on the end of the house all by itself. We're working but you'll have plenty of peace & quiet :) See you soon! Audrey 19th June 2006 | Audrey Exciting! - From: Flies time when you're having fun | I was beginning to wonder where y'all were. So glad things are going well. Can't wait to see you both (well four). Keep snapping pics and we'll see you soon! :) 18th June 2006 | Shay and Kate feeling much better - From: Trials and Tribulations | Whatever it is that I'm afflicted with, it is now mostly gone. Strange stuff. It goes as fast as it shows up. I must've tracked something into the tent from my sandals or something when we were at Petit Jean. 16th June 2006 | northwoods1 I'm only slightly green... - From: Flies time when you're having fun | with envy! Pics are fabulous and shadowhound is a very good omen. Maybe it was especially for Bela... 16th June 2006 | beth Wonderful Pictures!!! - From: Flies time when you're having fun | It looks beautiful out there in the real world. I hope you guys are soaking up the peace by the bucketful. 16th June 2006 | Jesterspet about the pictures… - From: Flies time when you're having fun | • The turtle rocks would make a good submission to the Fark Photo contest for "I saw a turtle" • The dog shadow on the tent is awesome, did you have to move the tent to get that, or was it a happy accident? • Caption for the Petit Jean cave pic; "Where did everybody go?" 16th June 2006 | Laura Jealous - From: Flies time when you're having fun | As promised, I've posted your update in irc so we can all be jealous together of your adventures! Love the pictures! Not sure what I think of the Shadow Hound other than if he shows up again at another stop along the way, maybe you can sell the tent to GoldenPalace.com for big bucks after you come back. ;) *Wants to go frolic in nature* Wah! 12th June 2006 | Travis - From: Route map added | I was just kidding about Wyoming. I think if you hit North Dakota you pretty much can skip Wyoming. But the Grand Canyon. Now there's a two hour detour that would be worth taking. 10th June 2006 | Shay and Kate Evil, evil people... - From: The Laws of Physics | At least I was sober enough to read the raffle ticket numbers when we won McQ's dugout seats to the Braves/Whitesox game next Friday. Sadly, we aren't going to be in town to enjoy the game, so we sold the tickets to Dave Keeney for some much-needed gas money for the trip. 9th June 2006 | AJ I'm hungry now... - From: The Laws of Physics | I'm sitting here at work eating my breakfast and I must say, not so hungry now, thanks a lot! 9th June 2006 | beth no good deed goes unpunished - From: The Laws of Physics | awww, so sorry to both of you! (and whoever was behind ya on the highway!) It WAS a bunch o fun hanging out with you two, and thanks shay, for taking great care of our kate! 9th June 2006 | JestersPet Mission Accomplished ☠ - From: The Laws of Physics | What kind of friends would we be if we didn't show our love & appreciation of her in the form of alcohol, at her sabbatical party? 9th June 2006 | Marieke - From: Route map added | I just stumbled upon your blog and had to say hi! Have a fantabulous trip this summer, y'all. Say hi to all the dykes in Michigan and wave to the west coast for me. -Marieke, in chilly Maine with twirling preschooler (who'll be 3 in 2 weeks) 7th June 2006 | Shay and Kate C'mon...all the cool kids are doing it - From: Bzzzzzz....Part 2: Shay's Revenge & camping | Larry: Where doesn't it take us? (Except Wyoming...) Andie: I triple-dog-dare you to shave your head too. I think it is just what PG&E needs in their corporate environment. Cheap and efficient cooling alternatives. :D 7th June 2006 | Shay and Kate Welcome to my world of traumatic prioritization - From: Route map added | Trust me, we wanted to go everywhere, including Wyoming. I mean...we're passing within spitting distance of the Grand Canyon and not even stopping to see an inch of it. You'd be surprised how quickly 10 weeks worth of itinerary gets used up. *poof* We're only spending two nights at Glacier...GLACIER...for crying out loud. We both have a lot of friends and family on the west coast. We're spending 2 weeks visiting each of our Moms (mine in Northern California, Shay's in North Dakota) and we're spending a week at a music festival in Michigan. Sadly, 26 states just didn't make the cut. :( 6th June 2006 | Travis - From: Route map added | You're skipping Wyoming?? What the heck! 2nd June 2006 | Andie OMG! - From: Bzzzzzz....Part 2: Shay's Revenge & camping | I am so proud and envious of you two road trippin fools!
