A great and memorable day in Rome Hi guys,
What a great story teller you are Paul and jane for keeping all the notes! We have very fond memories of that day.
Thanks for sending the blog, what a job!
We are doing well, had a busy summer with kids and grand kids.
We are getting ready for our next adventure. We are flying to Cuenca , Equador on January 4 for 6 weeks, then on to Santiago, Chili for a 33 day cruise around South America up to Fort Lauderdale .
We'll spend 4 days there and then on to a 10 day Caribean Cruise and then home.
We've had some stormy weather here on the Island, but manage to get out every day for some fresh ocean air.
Let us know what your plans are keep up the blogs and keep in touch. We have really enjoyed your company.
Cheers,
Doug and Marianne
Wrong side of Salalah I am very sad reading your story of Salalah. And unfortunately, as I see, you were taken to a "tourist souk" only there for tourists, being herded there. As it is, there are some fantastic souks in the city of Salalah, with actual real market places, for real people, friendly vendors and no rip-off prices. As I was there, had the same experience at first, being taken to a god forsaken tourist souk, but with a few friends, escaped that (with a taxi, without any conflicts) and went to the real city center, with gold souk and absolutely fantastic markets, swarming with local people, who all were very curious about us, but also very friendly.
Wonderful recap of a great day in Bali with fellow Rotterdam passengers Paul & Jane, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your Bali, Day 1 blog because we were on the tour with you! Your recollection of the experience is much better than ours. I regret not keeping a journal of the 89 days we spent on this voyage. Thank you for sharing!
Indonesia Good reading your stories about Indonesia. Would like to be there with you as your blogs raised some good memories and for Willem even a little homesickness.
Semarang What an extensive story about your trip to the Borobodur. The place Willem was born is about 20 miles away. Still the same ill organized mess as we remember from our trip 10 years ago. But the scenery and the food both are plenty compensation for the non organized way of living. But in Indonesia they live by the day.
Far East Stories about Myanmar, India, Thailand and Sri Lanka makes us feel like participants in all the adventures you had. At least they created a warm feeling as a compensation for the majority of cold and very wet days in our country since we left at Dubai.
Missed snowstorm! Was thinking of you guys this week, basking in the heat and humidity while I was clearing almost 2 feet of snow. To complicate matters, it rained the entire day yesterday. Really wish we were with you guys on this trip. Nicole goes to Montfort on Tuesday for her knee. We will know then when and what type of operation she will need. Eric will be leaving the ship shortly in Indonesia. His wife is expecting their baby in April. Pass on our best wishes to him. Hope your wallets are big enough to accommodate the rupiahs in Indonesia. Enjoy your cruise.
Cruise m.s.Rotterdam Love to read your interesting and humoristic travelogue from your cruise on the m.s.Rotterdam. Looking forward to your stories when in Willem's country of birth Indonesia.
So Interesting! Just a note to say thank you for all of your interesting comments. Enjoy and fight off the dreaded 'cold', keep sanitiizing your hands! Dave agrees that The Dive makes the best hamburgers. Take care.
