Hi John... thanks for reading my blog! I wasn't under the impression that anyone other than my friends and family were interested. Massive apologies if I caused you any offence! The last thing I'd want to do is create bad feeling in those who have chosen to live out there. I'll have a re-read and revise. We did indeed love it there! We've decided to head back after Malaysia. Hi there. Glad you enjoyed the islands. I was wondering about your comment on the "Gary Glitter" types. I should preface this by saying that I am an American who lived for a year in Cebu with my wife. We are both young people (late 20s-early 30s). I think it is unfair to say that Americans are the majority of "Glitter" types. I found that most of those types hail from various European countries, Germany topping the list. Anyhow, I am glad you made it to the Philippines and are spreading the word about how great it is. Hopefully more non- "Gary Glitter" types will take a look.

Reading your entry for Vietnam made me laugh so much I think we had a very similar holiday when I was there with Claude 3 years ago. We had the same train journey experience! Enjoy your trip to Philippines! I'm off there in 6 weeks but will be in Manila and Palawan. Safe journey. XXX

Chinese food in HK
Hi Nicky - not sure it is better here than in London... weve had some pretty nice meals but our being vegan has meant that, unless we go somewhere specifically with lots of fake meat/fish then weve pretty much been having stir fry veg and noodles/rice. Im told that the food in China is VERY different from that in HK.
