hello, Sarah! Read with delight! So glad that you are safe and well now! What a trip! Very happy that your sweet mum was at your side being your nursemaid.
The pictures are wonderful.
I will probably skip Fez for one of the things on my bucket list to complete before I die.
Thanks for the descriptive words and awesome language. I love to hear your thoughts!
Many blessings, and you're always welcome back to Georgia. We don't stink too badly here....(-

Reykjavik I stumbled upon your blog while looking for reviews of Icelandic travels. I was wondering if you had any suggestions on where to stay and any tips you may have on booking excursions etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Happy Travels!

¡Hola Alex! xxx ¡Hola mama Alex!
Yay!
!Mucho amor mi mama de Quito! Xxx SarahB xxx

Fire Mountain Hey there. Yes Fire Mountain was really quite special and a lot more fascintaing than I had initially thought. It's quite a way out of Baku so our Azeri fixer (I was out on location with the rest of my TV production crew) drove us there from the city. If you're doing it on your own I'd suggest finding out the Azeri for 'Fire Mountain' and getting a good taxi driver who definately knows where it is to take you, otherwise you might just be driving through endless fields of nodding donkeys for the afternoon! I think the Lonely Planet details where Fire Mountain is so you could always show a driver a map first? As for the fire- it's very smelly (!) and quite fierce at times but the sheer fact that it's all natural and never ceases to die out is quite specaular (Oh and great in the cold months for warming up!) Have fun!
Traveling to Israel: Tips Hi Anwar, that's really cool that you're planning on visiting Israel and i'm so glad you enjoyed my blog. It's a fascinating place with so much going on. I'm definitely going to go back there and explore it even more one day.
Now... getting around... I mainly did this by bus. There are good services that link all the main areas of interest for travelers, and the best bit about Israel is that it's tiny! So it's never a long journey. (I think the longest journey from the north to South only takes about 7 hours.) Within the city, local city buses are very easy and cheap to use and taxi’s aren’t expensive either.
You could probably do the Dead Sea/ Masada as a day trip if you left very early from Jerusalem... but i didn't do this- i stayed there over night as the best way to climb Masada is at 4.30am so to get to the top by sunrise and I'm not sure if buses to the area run that early in the morning. I stayed in a very odd hostel at the foot of Masada... I say odd because it caters predominately for Jewish School groups so I literally was the only single traveler there which was strange compared to most hostels. But it served well for one night and was very close to where you start climbing.
Anyway i hope that helps- I recommend buying the Lonely planet's guide to Israel and Palestine- it's fantastic and will tell you all.
Thanks and have fun, SarahB
Israel trip hey, i love your blog. I am actually thinking of going to israel in july. I would like to ask you some questions. Was israel expensive? what's the best way to move from one place to another? Did you visit the dead sea/masaba as a day trip?

take it easy

Photos It's been far too long since I went travelling, but the sunset and early bird shots alone are making the call hard to resist again.
Stunning. Keep up the good work!
Hi Hi William, thanks very much for your kind message. I hope you have the time of your life out there... try to get to Hawkes Bay if you can. A lot of people miss it out just because it isn't slapped all over their lonely planets in the same way that Queenstown is for example and it is such a little goldmine, especially right now as the weather is divine. :)
Nz Hi there, i fly out in one week to Nz and reading your blog and looking at you pics has got me so excited. Looks and sounds perfect for me.
Thanks
william
