One week ago we were extremely lucky to be on one of the very few flights leaving the 'Volcano Chaos' in Europe. The airport closed just after our flight departed - not that we cared, we were on our way to China!! Flight went pretty smooth and we arrived in Beijing last wednesday morning. Was a fair bit colder than yr.no (hyped Norweigan weather-site) had promised but wearing most of our clothes we walked around in the area around the hostel and walked up to Tianamin square to see the the outside of the Forbidden City and the classic photo of Mao. After some more looking around in the city - going around by the pretty new Subway system, we got back to the hostel just in time to be invited out for some Beijing Duck ... read more

So, the day has finally arrived... we think. It seems our plane to China has left Beijing and will land in Stockholm this afternoon. The last few days have been hell trying to keep up to date with the volcanic happenings and considering other options if we can't take to the air, but it seems as though lady luck has opened her heart to us - big time. Stockholm airport is, at this stage, going to be open until 8pm, meaning our flight to Beijing will just sneak in, departing at 7.20pm. I'll leave it at that for now, we hope the next blog will be from Beijing, if not it could be from anywhere in Eastern Europe... We'll be in touch. ... read more
