thanks patricia. i am much much better now. i bought some chinese repellant that the locals swear by. i'll try it out when i'm in hong kong and beijing!
use the DEET girl! although 100% is a little crazy to put directly on your skin. itchy mosquito bites are miserable!
you do sound like carrie bradshaw. hahaha.
Maybe if they don't eat a lot of food they don't "mature". I dunno. I read about some people from North Korea that are ridiculously malnourished, maybe their hormones get messed up, and there are like 20 and 30 year olds who haven't gone thru puberty yet. I guess that's a pretty extreme case tho...some advertiser needs to have a "get manly" campaign.
Bite Help Ok use an antihistamine to control the itching (like benadryl) - it shuts down the part of your brain that makes you itch. Take it orally of course.
They sound infected - put hydrogen peroxide or use alcohol of some kind - either rubbing alcohol or the kind you drink - yes it will sting bad - do this several times a day.
If the infection continues see a doctor - for an antibiotic.
Try not to wear perfume or fragrances - even hairspray or such will attract them.
I seem to remember there is some spice you can eat that comes out in your skin that repels them too. I think you could do a google search.
Good luck!
Great blog Good detail of what you saw. Pity you did not get to Confucious, I did and worth the tour. If I remember correctly there was over 600 steps to the tomb and knackering it was to.
Do you live and work in China or just on walk about?
Be good to chat if you live in Shanghai as i am attempting to move out soon.
Sui vs Shui I get confused whether or not to roll the tongue. "Shui" (in different tones) can mean "water" or "who". "Sui" (4th tone) would be pronounced like "age".
but if you say "sui", isn't that "who"? or is one of them 3rd and one of them 4th tone? i'm so confused.
i almost got my ticket!! i just gotta confirm it...
I love taro! My parents don't differentiate between the "sh" and "s" sounds. I think that's how they speak Mandarin in Taiwan. But since I took some Chinese classes from people from the mainland, I usually say the "sh" and then my mom will try to correct my pronunciation and say the word with just the "s" sound. Too funny. I guess it's a matter of perspective.
Menu Yes, a few slight differences. They have taro pie here in addition to apple. They have taro in Hawaii McD too. They have a few small differences, like filet of fish with chili sauce, and their combo meals come with small fries, instead of large. A bit healthier.
Too many places, too little time! My blog starts off in China (Shanghai, HK, Beijing, Macau, Anhui, Guilin, Xinjiang, Sichuan, Yunnan), to Thailand and Cambodia. I can't wait for where I go next! ... full info
