Frenzy This blog helped me very much thank you! My son Nathan has decided he wants to travel South America (against my maternal instincts) Nathan is a young adult (God bless and keep him) so I couldn't stop him but the pictures you showed helped calm my anxiety. I had envisioned some very rustic unpaved road ways but the bus line you depicted was clean modern and not much unlike our travel system here in America so I feel my son may actually be safe. My only concern is that he mentioned his bus ride would be 38 hours and yours was 2 days in the same direction.
Great blog Hi Kathryn
Im glad you had such a good time on your SA trip. Your blog has been so informative to me in planning my own trip and I hope we can do as many awesome things as you guys have. Im glad you got home safely and Im not surprised youll be planning another trip soon! We,ve been in Colombia less than two weeks but weve already experienced so much and had a really good time, and still got so much to look forward to.
Thanks again!
Ecuador is socially behind Colombia in many aspects. The safety factor still goes to Ecuador. If you are looking to retire or live for some time in Latin America, Ecuador is the choice for sure. I have lived in Quito for 16 years and I am married to a Colombian woman. If you have questions I will be happy to help you bullock0005@yahoo.com . Ecuador has finally stabilized economically and really seems to be moving in a better direction that Colombia.
Hmmm, maybe we'll have to change our normal 'wine and cheese' night to a 'beer and cheese' night when you get back. It could be 'beer, cheese, chocolate and story telling/pictures from your trip' night...What do you think? Great idea, eh?
Missing you too Hope you enjoy Peru and the rest of your days traveling. When you get to Lincoln, we'll go to Yiayia's and get a good lager and some Cheese pizza with something chocolate for dessert and then we'll go to an outdoor summer concert.
Awww, hope you are feeling better, and getting some rest so you're not so run down! I only just finished reading all of your recent blog entries...miss you!! xx
Glad to know form you Hi guys, I found this by accident. I'm glad to know from you since I hosted you in Bogotá. And I'm also glad you stayed in Ivan's hostel.
As for the toilet paper :) I always throw it in the toilet :) but you're right, in many places they'll tell you not to do it. And in small towns you'll never find big supermarkets, and specially not peanut butter (even in Bogota we don't eat it that much), but I'm happy that you're enjoying your trip, I hope you went to the Cueva del Indio. Enjoy Tayrona.
Good luck.
What a joy What a joy to hear how you 2 have been doing. Kathryn, I hope we can meet soon. I live between Dallas and Ft. Worth and you are welcome anytime. This is such a great time in your lives to live out such an exciting adventure. Ryan, I hope your dad keeps me on the list to receive your updates. Take care.
I just moved to guarne after living in florida for 11 years and it is incredible i am proud to call my self colombian i live high up so there is an incredible view of the mountains
Great pics Beautiful! Makes me even more anxious to get to Lake Mac in the middle of the entire USA. You look like you are having the time of your lives. We'll have lots to hear about when you get back.
Loving the blogs Hey girl, I love reading your stories. You are definitely a talented writer. You should submit your writing to a travel magazine. You make me want to visit these places. I can definitely understand your passion. Missing your wonderful smile. Tell you partner in crime hello for me and be safe. See you when you get back. Love, Danielle
P.S. Super pregnant now. Ha!Ha!
Sound like a blast! Hey, it sounds like you two are enjoying yourselves. Nothing much new here except the naked mud volcano that I'm working on in the back yard. Mud, water, naked massage, and I get paid. What could be better? Enjoy!
When my dad and I were traveling in Mexico we couldn't find peanut butter either, but when we did we stocked up. I ate the sandwiches with smashed up bananas instead of jelly. Have you been to any places that you have to pay for your toilet paper?!?!!? Sorry about the late responses. I am catching up on all your blogs today. 1 more to go! The pictures are great!!
¡Hola! ¡Qué aventura! ¿Por cuánto tiempo vas a viajar? Tengo celos y envidia porque no conozco Colombia, pero tengo ganas de conocer este país fascinante. Me encanta tu blog - qué buena idea.
Suerte con todo y ten cuidado.
Besos.
