Welcome Home Ruth! Great to read your latest (I won't say last) travelblog. I totally know what you mean about being home after so long away, it can be weird as it seems as though nothing has changed, but what amazing memories you have together!! Good luck with whatever path you decide to travel down now. Sarahx
Gracias! Ruth (and Barry), thanks so much for sharing your adventures with us. It's been a fabulous journey. Hopefully we can meet up somewhere in the UK in April or October.
I'm glad you both got experience some sides of Mexico that many tourists never see. I'm from Morelia, and seeing your experiences in Chiapas and Oaxaca make me want to visit.
Nice to see your travels fully updated. I enjoyed reading your latest blog. Mexico is a country I would love to visit - great to hear your account of it and see the photos.
Happy future travels!
food Hi Eduardo. Thanks for the comment. In theory no food is allowed in. However, they don't check your bags on the way in, so you are pretty safe. Obviously don't take a huge amount but it is well worth taking enough to last for your visit (after a big breakfast!), some snacks for energy, etc. Oh, and take lots of water.

Great info! Excellent combo of infos and photos to whet anyone's appetite. You suggest bringing your own food, but I've read you can't bring any from outside. Has that changed?

not a praying mantis Sorry to tell you that you are holding a grasshoper and not a praying mantis in your photo...
I love Costa Rica, your trip seemed to be great
route Hi Ben, thanks for the advice. Unfortunately (with big regrets!) we have had to cut El Salvador from our itinerary. Big time constraints just meant that we can't fit it in. Next time..!!
your trip You need to go o El Salvador before heading to Guatemala. If you plan in goig to Guatemala and then El Salvador you will have to go back and then go into a country you had already been in. So go to El Salvador through la Palma and go to Suchitoto from there you can go west and visit the north west little towns of El Salvador (Ruta de las Flowers) then get in to Guatemala and from there to Belize.
Be safe and good luck to you.
I can't wait to go! I have always loved the thought of going to central america.
Just need the push to go. . .
Am building a website that allows people to plan their travels, here is the blog.

petersona72@gmail.com While Panama is known mostly for its famous canal, the country's natural attractions offer an irresistible lure to far-sighted travelers. This oft-overlooked country offers some of the finest birding, snorkeling and hiking in the Americas

Fun, fun, fun! You look like you are having so much fun. I guess you'll miss the high altitude walks though. It's hot and sunny here but dressing moderately means I'm not getting a tan! And it's hard work too!!!!
Welcome to my travelblog, a place where I can record my trips, write down my experiences, share my ideas and re-live my memories. I don't really know why I keep a blog; I think it is partly because I don't want to forget things but it is also for my friends and family to keep up to date with my wandering. I guess I'm also writing it to help out other travellers who are looking for tips or inspiration.
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to visit Latin America. After much planning and saving I was finally able to live the dream - a year in Latin America (Sept 2007 to Sept 2008), t... full info
