YASS! Hi
That is my trike you took a great photo of... Looks great doesn't it? You must have taken the photo during a weekend sometime, because it is parked outside my office..
A few friends have seen it on your post and brought it to my attention.,.,I love it, and I don't own a car..:)
beautifully written I enjoy your writing style. I've heard stories about the trans siberian before but none told with such captivating poetic verse. Thank you.
Feedback on Silver City comments As an ex Broken Hillite it was great to read your positive comments on the Silver City. Over the years the town has coped a flogging mainly due to the strength of the unions. They talk about collective bargaining agreements now but we had them there 30 years ago.
I worked underground on the Zinc Mine owned by RioTinto in those days. Bloody hard work. You should have had a look a whites musuem in west part of The Hill. He has scaled model of what undeground works look like. There was a mine shaft there for visitor tours (Delprats) closed up now due to mining in location I believe. I have been in Canberra since 1984 some twenty five years ,still cant get that red dust out of the blood. Still have faamily there but trips back are few and far between. Anyway you brought back some good memories with your photos. Before I left there i was a linesman. We built a power line out to Mundi Mundi station , back of Silverton . That was a bloody stinkin hot experience. Cheers
Rosarinos Lindas fotos!
Saludos
Nice pictures! The bycicle, the old man on the wall and the cartoon on the kiosc; they have they´re own cultural significate.
The bycicle's it´s relacionated with the people who was murdered by the militar people that took the goverment of the country in the 70's.
The old man desapiered a few years ago, in a middle of a trial, when he report the name of the murderers of the people who desappiered or missing on that years.
Finally, the cartoon belongs to an artist from rosario, named Fontanarrosa, a distinguished international writer who past away a year and a few months ago.
Sorry about the translation, i did my best!
Regards
Lovely I have been there. They are amazing. But I have to be honest, the best views and experiences are at the Argentine side. I am from Argentina, yes. Lovely picture with the Boca Juniors T-shirt, my son is a fan. Love from Argentina.
your pictures are fantastic!! Your photos are awesome, what an amazing trip! Would it be possible to ask what type of camera you have? it seems really versatile... thanks in advance and happy travels!! Melissa
fantastic photos and great blog...we're headed to this part of the world shortly and will definitely check out the elqui valley, looks amazing! cheers, Natalie
Wow the air quality! What skies...can they really look like that? Makes me realize the poor air quality here in China, where there is always a faint haze. Pictures are fantastic!
Fantastic blog on BA! It's where we started our South America trip almost 9 months ago, and I've very fond memories of the city. It was interesting seeing all the Irish names in Recoleta cemetery - I missed Fr. Fahy though! Enjoy your 15 hour bus ride, I really miss the Arg buses, the ones in Ecuador are nowhere near as good.
Poor Aoife wth no book. Am just reading Nuala O Faolain book 'are u sombody' and in it she describes how she would jointly read books with Nell McCafferty "We read. We read the same paperbacks at the same time, me speeding along and tearing out pages as I finished thme for her" Maybe Alan should take a leaf out of her book :-) xx
Better than reading the news Loved your blog. You made small events, the crazy drumming/dancing extravaganza in your pajamas entertaining. We just got back from spending a month in Patagonia and loved the Argentine people. I'm envious of your trip.
great travel story I enjoyed reading your blog, it communicates beautifully the moments of madness experienced in another country. I am an Australian about to embark on a trip to South America and I like to read the experiences of those who go befrore. Good adventuring for the rest of you trip.
Yay, we're finally on the road!
After years of excited and nervous planning we took the plunge and left our jobs, rented out the house, said goodbye to the folks and friends, got married (well, you've got to be sure your travel buddy's there for you!) and headed off for places unknown.
And we're loving it, enjoying every second! Can't wait to see what's next.
Carpe Diem.
