Firstly thanks to all of your for your continued comments and texts, glad you are enjoying the read. Caught up with my friend Sue from home today and the weather sounds gastly... oh well!! lol! So today has to be the highlight of the trip so far... the 3 and a half hour climb and descent of Sydney's most famous landmark the Harbour Bridge. Having woken earlier than planned, Bobby decided to head to the Bridgeclimb centre and try his luck at getting an earlier tour... and as luck would have it a tour was about to start when he arrived - and to make things better it was the new "Discovery" Tour as well - so yet again an upgrade (what can I say it just has to be my looks and charm that swings ... read more

8am and after a fantastic nights sleep was time to get ready for the day ahead and the excitement of Bonza Bike tours - but first time to fuel up in the Executive lounge with a good old Aussie breakfast of fruits, cold meats, eggs and tea. As i ate I was amazed at how good I felt - where was the supposed jet lag and was I ever going to get it? Personally I was thankful about feeling so good - clearly others in the lounge were not feeling as good as I was! With a full tummy, just enough time to head to Circular Quay and watch the world go by and Sydneyers bustle their way to work from the ferries - it was almost like a game of Aussie Football with no rules ... read more

As the flight neared to Sydney Airport, so I got the first look at the city from the air, there rising from the sea fog came the magnificent structure of Sydney Harbour Bridge, the CBD and the Ivory sails of Sydney Opera House. Soon after we were landing at the International Terminal and heading towards the gate for disembarking. Right next door was the Singapore Airlines A380 which was a beast of a plane - and as I left the airport, saw its take off. Seems to be quite an awe inspiring event which seems to draw the crowds even after a year's service. Straight through customs and immigration with the minimum of fuss and hassle and 5 minutes later there was my bag - and no need for quarantine due to my flying in Upper ... read more

After a peaceful one hour stopover in Hong Kong, showered and refreshed it was time to re board for the second leg of the great journey. Taking off from Hong Kong brought back memories of the last time I visited HK the year in which GB handed sovereignty back to China - the skyline hasn't changed and the Harbour was as busy as always with the people of Hong Kong busily making their way to their own destinations and travels. I questioned why I hadn't chosen to break my journey in Hong Kong, to go and revisit; and see the changes with my own eyes. The airport had certainly changed and was more functional and less chaotic in style, but also missed the excitement of Kai Tak and the final approach where you could almost reach ... read more

Well folks here I go again, but before I do I must thank Ferret for his contiuning feedback and remarks - as Philleas Fogg had his second in command, its a great shame that Ferret cannot be my Rigadon!! So here I am a number of champagnes later in the Upper Class lounge, having mixed with a number of D-list celebrities - (none of which are even worth mentioning even if they do strut around the lounge with a look at me attitude - oih dear). Saying that the whole Upper Class experience is amazing. I had forgotten how good it was, car picks you up, driver checks you in whilst in the car, and then the grand arrival at Terminal Three is just something else. You now sweep into what only can be described as ... read more

Great night out last night at Smiths and a great start to today's adventure... wish I could say I'd slept well but bolt upright at 6am so guess the excitement has now really kicked in!! HOwever, waking up to the view from my flat of a tranquil canal and a superb sunrise does fill you with contentment and a spring in your step. So a few last minute things to do today: pick up the currency, check that I have everything packed, and pull together all the emails ready for hotels etc. Still pinching myself that after the planning that started in May, I leave today - it seemed such a long time ago that I booked the flights, but how quickly the time has sped round - and soon the Virgin car will be arriving ... read more

So final day at work before I set off on my big adventure to Australia - must say that the excitement is now kicking in!!! Tonight I'm heading to Smithfields with some work chums (you know who you are) which I'm really looking forward to - the perfect start to the perfect holiday! The weather is looking great with Sydney already in high 20's during the daytime - so this pom will definately have his shorts on, shocking the whole of Sydney with his legs! lol! Think the flight could be interesting especially around Hong Kong where a typhoon hit on Wednesday and the forecast for the next few days is stormy to say the least! Virgin has been suffering long delays all week, (as have all the airlines) so I guess that might just mean ... read more
