So, on to Auckland. We flew in about lunchtime - the flight was only 3 hours and no jet lag to deal with so we liked it (despite being made to watch the Hilary Duff movie, Raise Your Voice. Just don't, it's not worth it). We're staying with my friends Dave and Claire from Warwick at the moment which has been great. They have a flat right in the middle of the city, underneath the Sky Tower, so that's been great for getting about and seeing what Auckland has to offer. And regaining some sort of night life! Hey folks, So thought it was about time we told you what we got up in the glorious pacific island of Fiji. Well, for starters it's a darn sight hotter than where you are!! Smugness over, I promise. We landed in Nadi on 5th February at 4am, having left LA on the 3rd, and crossing the international date line meant that Friday 4th Feb never happened for us. Oh well. Hey folks, Here we are - our final spot in the 2 weeks of the US of A. We opted for the money saving option of travelling overnight on the greyhound from San Francisco to Hollywood. Fortunately this time we foudn a seat by the emergency exit, which meant extra leg room...and that was about it really. The journey took a dooable 8 hours, during which we had a stop at a Burger King, in the middle of nowhere. Yeah, so like we're like, totally into San Francisco, Dudes. It's super cool and we've had some like, awesome times. I mean like, totally. OK, that's enough. We are still in San Francisco and loving it - it's a great city but it's more like a lot of different communities that happen to really, really close to each other. We're staying close to Chinatown which is just a short walk from North Beach and the Bay Area. It's all very urban and chic. Hey folks, Well, we survived the bus...all 12.5 hours of it. Managed to get a bit of sleep, despite it being totally freezing for the whole journey. Arrived around lunchtime and decided it wasn't too far to the hostel, so we'd walk it, complete with rucksacks and all. Fortunately we didn't have to hike up any of the notoriously steep hills to get there, but did have to negotiate 6 flights of stairs once we'd arrived: the sedatary commute of the last 6 months seems a distant memory! So, the bus was fun. All 8 hours of it. Arrived in San Diego about 8.30 and went straight to our hostel at Ocean Beach - much livelier (and in a slightly less dodgy 'hood') than the one in Las Vegas - and only about 200 metres from the Pacific Ocean. Hence, Ocean Beach. Met our ker-azy roommate Candice as soon as we walked in the room, she was busy rolling spliffs for her big night out. Hi all Sorry we haven't been in touch for a while - we had a few minor internet mishaps. Never mind, we're here now to give you the latest on our progress. Thursday was our trip to the Grand Canyon which was an early start but well worth it. We went to the West rim which isn't so touristy and was pretty quiet. The GC is amazing - you can't quite grasp what looking over the edge of a sheer cliff face into a 3.3km abyss until you've done it. Photos don't quite do it justice. Hello there! Well, we finally made it. Right now, we're knackered - have nearly been up for 24 hours and it's still only 6.30pm here. Flight was good, if a little long but we managed to get in three films and at least that many meals so can't complain too much. Sights as we landed were amazing - will post photos soon (still working on it!). Didn't quite make it to the strip - our hostel is slightly downtown of the main city.
