interesting nige!!
sounds like evry market i experienced across india apart from the fact that at least your fish products are alive!! I must admit tho that after many years of eating fish from what appear to be very inadequately kept markets, i always found the fish good and fresh despite heat flies and general squalor! good luck mate

When you get to Singapore, look out for a Thai noodle dish called Laksa. Same sort of thing you had in Vietnam. Nice informative blog. G

A smell you never forget!
The smell of ripe Durian fruit is something that you never forget. It can be smelt from 4 blocks away. Try it for me as I never plucked up the courage in 21/2 years in Singapore.

Shades of your teens
So pleased that you are feeling so much better. Hoi An sounds like a great place to chill out and I seem to remember that was your goal in the first place. Was the music maybe for a wake as I seem to recall that funerals in Singapore were very noisy affairs? Or it could have been a wedding!

Loving the commentry
Glad things are starting to work ok with you having that rocky start ( phone / camera etc.) The descriptiions are amazing that you are doing , and am glad to see you are managing to keep off the beer most of the time. Maybe I need to take a leaf out of your book here and try going around Dubai on motorbike - then again maybe not. You take you life in your hands with the Taxis. Looking forward to the photos - any chance of getting them up-loaded?

Brilliant blog !. Snakes ? Kill the twats, marinate with tandoori sauce with garlic, onion, coriander leaves, cumin and fenugreek. Fry. With rice, naturally, curry leaves, etc etc. Have fun! The food fascinates me. Take care, G.
