Traveling around south east Asia is by no means a breeze in the wind...well it could be but since Ty and I were somewhat low on funds, we decided to travel by bus.. not just an ordinary bus, but "buses from hell"...bumpy, dark, cold yet incredibly hot at times, crowded, smelly, dirty, bathrooms made for hobbits, air cons that leak from the ceiling onto you while you sleep on the floor that was converted into a makeshift bed(luckily the bus provided blankets)...wooooooohooo what a journey we have had...it could of been worse I guess..but since Tyler and I have been used to air con rooms, with cable tv that play marathons of law and order, and rooms that have hot showers...I guess you can say we have become a bit spoiled by traveling comfortably and in ... read more

From Pai, Thailand we booked a 2 hour mini bus ride into Chiang Mai, then a 12 hour longgg sleeper bus ride into Bangkok, then another 4 hour mini van ride which dropped us off about 10 minutes away from the Cambodian border. We were told by some fellow backpackers that you should not have to pay more than $20 USD for a Cambodian visa, so of course we are swindled by a travel agency that we got dropped of at and they asked us to pay double...they were asking for 1,300 Baht which is about $45. Luckily there were some English backpackers on our mini van who were told the same about the visa's being only $20...so the 4 of us, grabbed our packs, and headed towards the Cambodian border by foot. It was about ... read more

Most of you know that I love to plan everything, from birthday parties to social events, really anything that has to do with scheduling, I am all about it (why am I not an event planner?). Not sure where I inherited this trait, but it comes natural to me and I actually enjoy it, it is part of the control freak within me....this trip has given me no choice but to leave my control freakish, Rachel the planning lady behind and accept my new found identity...the life of a nomad is not an easy one, but it is an incredibly spontaneous one...at first I felt disconnected from myself and the world, but then this sense of adventure and freedom took over my whole being and I went from being "Rachel the planning queen", to "Rachel the ... read more

With about 3 weeks remaining , we have a lot of land to cover and plenty to keep us busy. We leave Chiang Mai once again and head for Pai ( pronounced "BYE"). Apparently Pai is even more laid back then Chiang Mai, and full of yoga and mountains, even some waterfalls. We plan to rent a bicycle and roam the town, for about a week. Then we head to Kanchanaburi Province which is in central Thailand, where we will be seeing all the beauty that the National parks have to offer. After waterfalls and such, we head to Bangkok to figure out our next move... our last 2 nights in Chiang Mai we plan on seeing "Inception" at the local movie complex, recieve thai massages, practice some yoga and sit in the beautiful sauna at ... read more

We spent our last night in Ko Samui eating at a very reputable restaurant that was in the Loney Plany guide...that didnt stop us (Myself, Lashelle and Chris) from getting a bad case of food poisoning, brought on by the biggest raw oysters known to man...I was a bit hestitant to indulge in these RAW oysters...I should of know better because I read up on how to stay away from uncooked food, especially seafood. Nevertheless, LaShelle and I ordered not just one but 2 monster oysters which at the time were quite delicious...I kept asking Tyler to eat my other osyster but he denied them just like I should of, and thankfully he did because I am not sure how I would of been able to take care of myself...I could barely walk, stand, sit, ly ... read more

About India...and with all the research and videos, and documentaries, and photos and real life personal experiences that were shared with us about India, I have realized that it is important and gratifying to see it for yourself...or NOT! India is definately not a place to come if you are an overly anxious, paranoid, compulsive individual...(like my Mom, Just kidding..kinda). Many of you may wonder what desire I had for traveling to India...well besides the fact that yoga is one of my passions, I have always been intrigued by the ancient philosophy and Hinduism...so I wanted to see al that India had to offer...and in just one week, we had enough! My frustration about India is that my expectations were a bit too high. Although everyone and their mother and grandmother told me how dirty and ... read more

Hello everyone...we made it into India safely and finally are at a hotel that has legitimate internet access. Our mission to find a nice place to stay has been challeneging...but finally as we made it into Jaipur (where we are now) our hotel convienently has a nice "common hall" with 3 computers, a couple fans, lots of really interesting art work and books. Firstly I will start by sharing our flight experience over into India...by no means was this a smooth ride, infact it was by far the bumpiest airplane ride we have ever experienced...I had such bad anxiety, that I turned bright red, experienced subtle panic attacks and I was squeezing the mess out of Tyler's hand! All in all we landed safely into New Delhi, where we were immediately thrown into the caos that ... read more
