nice dinner looks very enjoyable! I am a bit envious of your experience. although I am the worst traveler there is. I don't like to be away from home long. Happy Easter
Thanks for sharing! Thanks for sending this along, Bob!! How great to be able to see, as well as read your comments about, your experiences! While I have been to Riyadh, I did not know any locals and was not treated to such an extravaganza. However, when I went to Ethiopia, we had an elaborate meal at a residence and yours reminded me of that. At the one I went to, though, women were allowed in the same room and, as I recall, the hostess attended to most of the meal. What an experience for you to have there!!
Hiking souds great Not a lot of elevated hiking opportunities over on this side of Saudi-I did hear from others that the southwest area bordering Yeman is spectacular -- rugged 9,000 ft peaks -cool even in the summer.
Great to hear from you. Great to hear form you Bob. Thanks so much for taking the time to include us in your experience. I'm glad you're doing well and hope the rest of the trip is as enjoyable.
Please keep us up to date. Michelle and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Hope we can set up a time to chat on Skype soon.
checking in Bob:
Glad you made the trip -- I'm sure even in first class it was getting a little long to be on a plane. I have no idea what the time difference is but I imagine your body clock is very confused. Be well and God bless....
Local Mosque Bob, be sure to walk over to the mosque when it's dark. It has great stained glass windows that aren't visible in the day time. You can get there by walking through the doors in the back of the Al Mujammah Center (the visitor center).
Nice story I like the story. It sounds like you are having a great experience. I hope you keep updating this. It is interesting. We should hike when you get back.
And so it begins... Bob, this is a great start. There are so many similarities to my surprise trip to Saudi. I hope your experiences are as good as mine were. Have a great trip!
I will be in Saudi Arabia from March 31st until May 6th on a consulting project located in Dhahran in the Eastern Provence of Saudi Arabia.
My only other international travel to date was a weekend in Victoria, Canada--180 miles from my home in the Puget Sound
