2 wounds
I went to the Gallepagos back in March of 2006. One day while on the beach while I was getting to go out and do some snorkeling, a sea lion came up and bit into my upper thigh. Two huge wounds--about 3-4" long and 3-4" deep that took about 4 months to heal. I am extremely lucky--no major arteries hit, had a bit of flesh eating bacteria and I now have a big dip in the leg with some lovely scars.

Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your experiences on the net! You don't know how much this helps when your child comes home from school with homework to describe their experience of walking through the rainforest when you and they have never been! Thanks Again! Paula x

Your blog has given me quite a laugh. I did the Salkantay trail in July 2008.I am 52 years old and your words are so spot on! And hilarious . I got a kick out of it. Terry

Details
That sounds awesome. What was the name/location of the lodge where you stayed?

We were part of a group of veterinarians from UC Davis. The animals are not so much "tame" as they are "accepting" of humans in their environment. Seriously though, if you went to touch one of the sea lions, you would have had a serious bite to contend with. Several of us had a problem with the Beachmaster on one of the islands.

My husband and I went on the same boat. The crew was expetionally courteous. They treated us like royalty. How did you guys find out about the tours? We went through www.galapagos-inc.com and they booked everything for us. If you ever go down that way again, you should check them out. Isn't it amazing how tame the wildlife is? We had an amazing time and it looked like you guys did too.

I am slowly starting to think Indian Jones was nothing more that a glorified Boy Scout. Amazing write up Lisa. I am following you guys on this trip and I am following 2 friends on a 10,000 mile motorcycle trip up to the Arctic Ocean and back to the valley via Alaska. I am having one hack of a 2008 Staycation! Thanks!

cultural references
Suburban breeder alert: David asked "what is Easter Island?" and the best way I could explain it was from one of the kids' cartoons (The Backyardigans). We don't get out much. Great social commentary. Mrs. Hanley would be proud!

Pina Colada
How funny, I had this HUGE Pina Colada urge the other day and could almost smell it!! That is my FAVORITE drink! Thanks woman for thinking of me while you were enjoying it---the thoughts made it here to US soil!! ha ha ha. I can't wait to see photos and now I want to learn more too! Sounds amazing!! I almost feel like I'm there, the way you write! You are doing an amazing job and educating me at the same time! Sounds like a dream trip! So, would you go back there? I think I saw a documentary a few months ago on the Discovery channel. HAPPY Anniversary!!!!!!!! I'd love to see Eric do that dance!!! Sounds like a very spiritual place with just so much history. God bless you guys for helping the animals! That is so sweet! Maybe you will have room in your suit case for one?? :) Feel free to have another Pina Colada for me! :)
