Welcome to my final blog in this series and to that place they like to call ‘The Big Apple’. Now, I don’t really like apples but hopefully this place will change my opinion of them somehow... Having had a one night whistle stop tour of Hollywood I was up early the next day for my connecting flight to New York. Taking approximately the same time it takes from London to New York I flew across the width of America and landed at JFK airport at around 6.00pm NY time. It was already dark and I had arrived slightly late due to delays. Oh well. Having eventually collected my baggage from the conveyer belt I headed to the other terminal to meet a girl who had been waiting there for hours. The next decision that had to ... read more

Bula Bula Bula! Welcome to Fiji! Bula is the Fijian word used for greeting people but seems to get yet used for pretty any much situation… Shouting in Caves, Drinking Kava, Singing... The more you say it the better! Bula! And to think I even considered changing my plans due to the recent Military Coupe in Fiji! I’m so glad I didn’t! And so, my Fijian experience began in Nadi airport after nearly missing my flight from New Zealand and after three hours of airtime. There were some pretty spectacular views as we came in to land but the sky was looking somewhat dark and scary! “This is your captain speaking; Welcome to Fiji, The forecast is for heavy rainstorms!” Not exactly what I was hoping to hear on arrival! Oh well, what’s the worst that ... read more

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, dogs and cats, sheep, frogs, ravers, club kids, goats, old folk, homeless people, famous people, the cabbage water crew, alien beings and anyone else out there reading this! Dr Popper here! Welcome to my final New Zealand Blog and my return to the glorious South Island! As much as I loved the North Island, the South is that little bit more special. I was happy to be returning! Welcome back PeterPopper. Thank you please! My return journey began on the ferry at a very early hour in the morning. I spent most of the journey attempting to sleep in the very cold lounge area. I had already seen the views on the way in so I wasn't missing anything! Arriving in Picton it was lovely and sunny! Nice! ... read more

Hey Peeps! It’s me again! Welcome to the next episode of my journey… Now, I don't know who came up with the name's for the two islands that make up New Zealand but they are pure genious! Welcome to..... "North Island"! After a very windy 3 hour journey from Picton to Wellington on the top deck of a ferry, we arrived in Wellington, New Zealand’s capital city! Wellington is known as the windy city! If the ferry trip is anything to judge it by - it certainly lives up to it's name. Wellington seems like a pretty cool place and has a lot of character! It has a good cafe, arts, and cultural scene. The city is very compact and is focussed around the harbour and its surrounding hills. Nice! Having checked into the hostel it ... read more

Hello my friend's and welcome to New Zealand, or as a Lord of the Rings fan might say, "Welcome to Middle Earth"! And on many occasions since stepping on to these lands for the first time it has felt to me like I've just stepped straight into a Lord of The Rings set, minus the Orks and Bilbo Baggins of course. I did see Gandalf the Grey the other day though! This is one amazing and extremely beautiful country. No wonder Peter Jackson chose to film his epic Lord of the Rings triligogy in this magnificent country that he can call home! And then there's the fellowship of the sheep! I've never seen so many of these white fluffy animals in my life! Sheep are everywhere here, and they are big business! It is estimated that ... read more

G'Day folks! How's it going? Welcome to Melbourne!! Melbourne was my last stop in Australia so I'll have to say G'Day for the last time... G'Day! I only had 2 days here in the capital city of Melbourne but certainly made the most of it and saw as much as I could in my short time space. After my previous night without sleep I think I managed to get a bit on the 12 hour overnight bus journey from Sydney. It's not easy though, and not the most comfortable place in the world to get some shut eye by a long shot. I think I tried out about 30 different positions during the night, struggling to get comfortable. Oh well, I must have got some as I eventually woke up to the sounds of the bus ... read more

Oiy Oiy Sydneysiders! After a 6 hour bus journey from that place they called 'the port' and very little sleep I arrived in the wonderful city of Sydney! As we approached the centre, the sun was just rising and made for some spectacular views of the skyline as we arrived. I was pretty damn excited to be here! On arrival at Central station I headed to Kings Cross on the train and made the short walk to Potts Point where my backpacker place was. After waking the woman up and checking in I jumped into my bunk for a couple of hours sleep. Too excited to sleep I disembarked from the bunk at around 9.30am, had a quick shower, chucked on some clothes and headed outside to see what the days weather had brought with it. ... read more

G-day.. How's it going? Sweeeeeeeeeet. As soon as I arrived in Byron Bay I felt strongly attracted to it. It's a pretty chilled out small beach town set up for the few thousands locals who can call themselves locals because they live there. The inhabitants are a mix of surfers, hippie's, arty types, old folk, homeless people, bums and just your everyday Aussie's. A popular surfing town with 7 different beaches surrounding the main point. There are therefore loads of VW vans, surf boards, art shops, cafes and some pretty cool hangouts. Nice. I decided to stay at a place called the Arts Factory. I don't know the best way to describe it... It's kind of like a factory for the arty types. A large complex set in tropical grounds about a mile away from the ... read more

G'Day! Hows it going? Well... what can I say? The last three weeks or how ever long it has been have been pretty mental, manic, and action packed. I've not had much sleep, spent a lot of time under the influence of alcohol, spent a fair bit of time in the ocean, crammed in loads of activities and have probably done loads of stuff which I have now forgotten. It has all kind of blurred into one but I'll do my best to tell my story to the best of my ability.... Enjoy! Welcome to Cairns. :-) I arrived in Cairns at sometime in the evening on a Thursday. Cairns is a town that thrives on tourism... most of the development is there for tourists and because of it's close proximity to the great barrier reef ... read more

G-Day Mate! Pop-O here from Alice Springs, Central Australia. I'm just off to put some shrimps on the barby and crack open a few tinnies but I'll be back in a sec to tell you about my trip into the Outback... The Red Centre of Australia. G-Day again! It's still me.. Pop-O. Having left Singapore on a night flight I arrived in Darwin, northern Australia at about 3.30am Darwin time. A bit of a scraggy airport and pretty much deserted. I had to check my stuff in again then wait another 3 hours for my flight to Alice Springs. I love waiting around. Pure fun. Having not slept I arrived in Alice Springs around 9.00am pretty tired out. I headed straight to the backpacker place that I had booked and went to visit the dreamworld. Goodnight. ... read more
