My loyal fans! Im sorry its been so long! I had a feeling that would happen... Wow so what a month its been! Raglan is like Hotel California: "Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door I had to find the passage back To the place I was before "relax" said the night man, We are programmed to receive. You can checkout any time you like, But you can never leave!" But finally I am breaking away- my friend Liz and I are making our way North- to where the sun is shining and its warm (no one bothered to let me in that the spring here is wet and cold- yesterday the sun broke through for the first time in weeks, seriously!) At the moment we are staying with a sweet family, spending ... read more
Im breaking boundaries, expanding my mind and growing muscles! I decided to make a small and definitely incomplete list of the new experiences I've had here during my first month down under the Down under. So here in no particular order, things I have never done before and experienced for the first time in New Zealand: Made Dulce de' leche (I think its the next easiest thing after boiling water) Made Pizza in an outdoor hand built oven using wood I cut, dough I made and some veggies I picked! Drove a Car on the left side, legally Used a hot water bottle at night (I think I would cry without it) Used a wood sander (I sucked at it) Ate white bread with butter and chocolate sprinkles (apparently this is a staple treat for kids ... read more
Okay so before I can tell you about the battle I need to introduce two key characters; Sweet Maria and the Tui. Sweet Maria from Argentina, she has the round face of a doll with long lashes and round eyes to match. Paired up with the most precious Spanish accent and her broken English makes her eyes seem even bigger with innocence and her frustration of vocabulary makes her childlike and makes me giggle. I have never heard sweet Maria say a negative thing about anything. So, Maria and I live in the the last caboose- definitely a designated Wwoof room- the door needs a good half dozen hip shoves before it opens enough to get in. And a genius decided to put the light switch in the center of the 7 1/2 ft ceiling, so ... read more
So yesterday I worked, no but really worked. There is a plant here that I lovingly nicknamed "Satan's Houseplant." The plant has inch and a half long spikes- or "midget's death spear"- amongst alluring yellow flowers thet are truely evil- or they were until Nelson crushed my theory of wrathfullness. Anyways I spent yesterday following a guy with a chain saw willingly grabbing hold of full trees of these Cheeky Bastards and tossing them into the back of the 4wd golf cart truck. You should see the pile we made. So then after hours of this I was called into the garden where Nelson stopped my ranting of the Devil's Houseplant and told me it is a legume (along with beans and peas) and it is a fancy plant because it takes Nitrogen from the air ... read more
What is with "sweet-a-zz-," Im not sure I dig it but kiwi's keep planting it. Thanks, loyal fans for checking back in with my blog, I love all 5 of you. ; ) Im really falling in love with this island, Its truely beautiful and the people honor and respect that beauty, and I like those people. Most everyone here is naturally helpful- to the point where when I say "Thanks so much, I really appreciate it" they stare at me wondering why I didn't expect them to help. But I do get the same remark when I tip (tipping is never expected) "Hey! We really appreciate it, thanks! Sweet Azz" Solscape is a really great place, I was picking lettuce out of the garden that overlooks Manu Bay's rolling waves and it really hit me ... read more

I MADE IT! From SD to NZ- From Summer to Winter- From South to North... or North to South depending on how you look at it. I arrived right at sunrise in Auckland and happened upon Andreas the German woodworker living in Raglan- That was a convienient coincidence cause it was where I was headed and I had no idea how to get there. Just follow the German. Anyways it took the full day but we got here- right at sunset. This place is gorgeous, the bay is huge and surfers anywhere would be jealous... and then pissed if they knew there is no way I am getting in that water (brrrr). Solscape is a very familiar comfortable place, with the waves in the background and living in a trailer of sorts.... My accomidation is ... read more
