We took a bus from the border of Argentina to Campo Grande, the starting point for our trip to the Pantanal. We quickly realised that Brazil buses were no where near as good as Argentina, and as a result we got no sleep on the 16 hour overnight journey! When we arrived we signed up for a 4 day trip to the pantanal, and joined 6 other backpackers (plus 1 holiday maker - Analisa!) for an adventure into the worlds biggest wetlands http://www.pantanaltrekking.com [View Full Entry]

Spent a week in the Capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires. The city itself is huge and much more european than boliva and peru, some parts paris some parts madrid? Although its huge its quite easy to get around with the metro and buses and cheap taxis, also we spent lots of time wandering around on foot. We have seen most areas of the city, the cemetary in recoletta (sadly no pictures of the tombs and morsoleams because both camera battaries were dead!...it was pretty impressive though!), La Boca, Palermo Parks, and bars (couple of late nights til 4/5am) and San Telmo [View Full Entry]

We found snow in Bariloche! Bariloche is a ski town, with the main ski resort 20km away - Cerro Catedral is one of South America´s biggest resorts. We stayed in and took the bus each morning to the resort. Even though it was end of season, the snow was still falling. We had a 2 hour lesson (mainly for Emma!) and then basically it was trial and error from then on. We both took a few falls but nothing major! Thanks for the Birthday messages....I celebrated my birthday by eating more st [View Full Entry]

Arrived in Mendoza after a 18 hour bus drive south from Salta. The bus was comfortable and we got plently of sleep (it was good to have paved roads!). We were orginally heading to Mendoza for snowboarding, but unfortunatley the snow had melted! We stayed in a great hostel (www.laohostel.com) and met some really cool people...if it wasn´t for the hostel we don´t think Mendoza would have been as much fun! The hostel owners put FREE wine out every night and we had a fantastic BBQ. In Mendoza we also hired bikes from wine and bikes and visited a few vinyards...although [View Full Entry]

We spent 4 days in Salta walking around, eating, drinking and soaking in the chilled out atmosphere. Salta is a great place and more importantly was HOT day and night! Argentina is so different from Peru and Bolivia, and we really like it here already....mainly down to the food - the steaks are hugh and are so cheap! [View Full Entry]

Finished the 3 day salt flat tour and got straight on the train to Tupiza. Arrived in Tupiza at 4am extremley tired. Tupiza was a quiet town, and a good place to relax and catch up on some sleep. Apprentley, Tupiza was the set for "Butch Cassady and the Sundance Kid", so we had to jump on a horse and go for a ride! I think Pauls expression was "My bollocks will never be the same!". We left La Paz for an overnight bus to Uyuni. We was hoping to get a good nights sleep as we were booked on a 3 day 2night jeep trip to the salt flats and lagunes of South West Bolivia the morning we arrived. Less than 2 hours into the journey, the paved roads disappeared and we hit dirt tracks for the rest of the 10 hour trip! We have never experienced a bus ride quite like it...bumpy is not the word! We suprisingly got more sleep than you would expected, and arrived in Uyuni ready to start our trip with [View Full Entry]

After a 5 hour bumpy bus journey over the border to Bolivia we arrived in La Paz. We spent a few days exploring La Paz and having a few drinks with fellow backpackers in Loki Hostel (www.lokihostel.com). We also completed a mountain biking trip on the Worlds Most Dangerous Road.
