Hi to all on this site. Today we have gone live on the new Blog site at http://blog.mailasil.com/libertad This site will be a direct link wth Libertad and the Iridium voice and data links.You can follow our progress on a daily basis from the 20th July with posted Lat/Long .You can also e-mail us at( libertad at mailasail dot com) (note the encryption to prevent spammers picking up on the site. Please keep any e=mails as short as possible and please do not send us attachments or photo's ,they will cost a fortune to send and download. Hi to all following our blog Libertad is straining at her moorings ,desperate to set her sails and head west and south ,since my last entry we have completed some sea trials .It was intended to sail to Dieppe, but the French fishermen had other ideas, blockading every French port from Dunkirk to Cherbourg, protesting about the cost of fuel the price of Gitanes and the plaugue of English tourist infesting their beaches. So we decided to visit the Solent once again.Leaving Sovereign Harbour just an hour before the top of the tide with a fresh 3/4 easterly, it was kite up all the way to the Looe channel.Arriving a little late for fine dining in Gosport, we ate dinner from the dog bowls! Libertad: Libertad relaunched on Tuesday 18th March after her refit. In preparation for our Atlantic cruise this year we have removed and inspected the rudder and quadrant, fitted Hydrovane self steering and installed extra fresh water tank capacity. Libertad has been surveyed and the rig checked to ensure everything is okay. Now we are back in the water we hope to commence sea-trials for our downwind rig and hydrovane systems. Crew information: Leg 1. The crew for the first leg to La Corruna Spain are Paul Huntley(Skipper) Bob Jeffery (first Mate) Jake Howell and Martin Ward. We have one place available at this time. Paul sails out of Sovereign Harbour in "Libertad" a Halberg Rassey 42'. He works in the Oil and Gas industry as a fast rescue boat instructor and sea safety auditor. First joined the RNLI as a Sea Safety volunteer working with Seacheck. To promote Seacheck he sailed "Libertad" around Britain in 2002 with RNLI crew.
