| 12th November 2009 Pathfinder | Maliau Basin - From: The Lost World Of Maliau Basin Greetings Yes Yien, there is short trails in maliau basin the best time for birding is very early in the morning at the sky bridge if you are lucky you'll spot the borneon bristle head and gibbonns..there are hornbills as well. birds are abundant..if you fancy wild life than you should take the night drive along the road in maliau basin. trakking in to the maliau falls is tough so if you fancy short walks the best is to be around the study center. from your blog you are a birder i suggest also kinabatangan this is also good for birders. |

| 22nd July 2009 Pathfinder | Hi moilton - From: The Lost World Of Maliau Basin Greetings Yes, its about the same in danum the arrangements of permits and conservation fee the accommodation is very basic dormitory rooms. only problem is getting in to the area as there is almost no transportation enters maliau basin unless you go through the sabah foundation or make your own way there by chartering a vehicle and it must be a 4x4. the tracking is fantastic hard work but views and trails are way batter than any other tracking sites in sabah. |

I've been to the Crocker Range, Imbak Canyon as well as Danum Valley but never got the chance to trek in Maliau Basin. For sure it made a big difference for us. We could not have had a better experience. Everything went smoothly and the 5 days in the Conservation Area was an experience for life. Yes Maliau basin is a good place to getaway from the city and if you are there for research about the flora and founa its an opportunity.
