italian drivers II the revenge
Hi, i'm italian and i live in Rome Italy. All what you've said about italian drivers is absolutely TRUE. I wish also to add something; every single average italian driver says he has (or pretend to have): 1- One or more relatives that has participated (will participate) to some rally or similar races. So he can drive better than you. 2- One or more "drive safe" school certificate of attendance which says that he can drive better than schumacker (and so better than you). 3- One or more "quattroruote" or "auto" (italian automotive magazines) collection which says than he has a deep knowledge of the car market and so he's the only one who can say to you what kind of car to buy. 4- A simple excuse for every single accident: " it was a faulty car". Cheers :)

Prague
Hi again, I loved this city as well and as time was limited only wandered around with no time to go to the museums. Love the rivers wish Australia had half as much as they do. When you traveled through the towns did you notice all the housing built for the people, thousands of them all the same. Our tour leader said that you had a very small choice of table chairs, lounges etc to furnish your appartments with, also they were built so that sound traveled and there were people who listened to the people to spy on them. The tour leader parent's were sad when the communist rule left they were lost as they felt safe knowning they had a job, hospital care and would be looked after when old. there was a job for all, and you were checked out if you didn't show for work, however the tour leader liked the way things are now she could travel and own nice things and was getting married. It sounds wonderful the travels you have done, have fun and will catch up when you are back. Love Auntie Val.

Rome/Venice/Florence
Hi Guys, It was great seeing and hearing about the above, Jules and I had a fun time going to these places, we especially loved Florence and walked to everything we could. Venice I had fun for three days while Jules was at a conference, Rome it rained but still spent our days roaming around the sights. We flew into Venice, then trained to Florence and Rome, I flew to UK and Jules went to USA to see Wayne. The memories just come flooding back and I am so glad you are having fun visiting these sights. The problem with Clancy fixed you should now have a great time without the worry of dials and quages going crazy. Our world is so varied it great to see. Have fun and hope to see you both soon. Auntie Val.

Hi Kirstyn and Jason, So lovely to be getting your blogs, and I was so excited to see the Lion and the bridge in Lucerne, it is many years since I was there but it was lovely to see them. Been chatting to Fay and she had a wonderful time, now she is trying to get back into the way of life at home, very busy. Andrea and kids went to see her last week and spent a few hours helping with weeds. Fay will be excited to see you all together for Marita's and Patrick's wedding, so pleased for them. We are wanting rain here for crops very dry. You are having a wonderful time and I look for the blogs. Love to you both. Val.

Received your email, thanks, have looked at your latest travels and you have had some wonderful times. So pleased to see Fay and she is enjoying the experience so much. Helen has about 1 1/2 weeks till the baby, not much else to report everyone is well, Liz loved having Fay really misses the Aussie connections. Bye for now Love Aunty Val.

Well done!
Well done you! Nothing would have got me in there. I just got back to Portsmouth after a great day out watching all those crazy people getting really cold and muddy in the bog, long drive, worth every minute. Great event, and I can let you know that there is in fact a new World Bog Snorkeling Champion...... 1 min 34.18 secs sees a girl take the title - hurrahhhh! Go Girls. Top event and can recommend it to any slightly competitive nutters out there, or even if you just want to have some fun.

Slave labour and WWII
Here is the amazing history. The Asian slave labour was recruited mainly from Burma and Malaya. As the only free country in Southeast Asia then, Thailand chose to ally itslef with Japan during WWII. The Thai government during the war was not Japanese's puppet but the one elected back in 1938. Thais did work on the construction of this railway, but only as voluntary hired labour. Thailand declared war on USA, Great Britain and China in early 1942. Reactions from the three countries differed. The British took it very seriously. The US and China never regarded Thailand as an enemy. Following Britain's retaliation, Australia and New Zealand later declared war on Thailand. The Thais refused to acknowledge, saying there were absolutely no conflicts between Thailand and the two British Commonwealth nations.
