Miteku Ayene

Miteku Ayene is the name, Originally from Ethiopia, raised in Kenya, grew up in Australia and now reside everywhere :P I come from a long line of nomads. As far as I can remember both my grandfather and my father were nomads, although I doubt that they saw or even considered themselves as one. I think the difference between their nomadic lifestyle and mine would probably have to be "choice" you see they did not choose the nomad life rather it chose them, they just happened to live in the great nomad era, I on the other hand chose this life,I have not been one to sit still, I've always been an adventurer, always have been driven, I've always wanted to see it all and know it all. Although I have yet to see the world I can still say with honesty and confidence that, I've seen the "Ocean and swam in the "lakes", i;ve walked the "forests" and explored a bunch of "caves". I've seen the sky at its best and the trees at their greenest, I've tasted amazing foods and had their drinks and I've seen people in their natural habitat all around the world. I've supposedly seen and done enough for a human being considering our life-style and life-extent , but for some unknown reason I never "cease" feeling hungry for more, the adventure, the wondering, the getting lost and waking up in a strange town is what keeps me moving and alive!

Ethiopia was a communist country, and the people were in a very critical state until the early 90's. The Ethiopian army back then was known for its cruelty and merciless ways. The soldiers never hesitated or had second thoughts to not do anything they wanted. They would rape, steal, kill, and do as they pleased, anytime and anywhere. It was a difficult life for some and good ... read more

Asia » China » Beijing » Great Wall of China July 18th 2011

I must say that 2 years have almost passed since I've been to Beijing, therefore my memory may be a bit hazy, but the one thing I will never forget was the indescribable feeling I got when I reached the top of The Great Wall. I was in Beijing for football (soccer) tournament that took place in the year 2011 and at first I thought it was all going to be about football and nothing else, but that was very naive of me. When I was there i remember thinking this will not go as planned and football had to be patient with me until I got rid of the inner nomad that wanted to explore Beijing out of my body. It all went well I explored and explored until I was full not just from ... read more
