WOW Nigel that was great!! Thank you for sharing it with us. Your 6 girls are very lucky to have such a special person like you in their lives.
Penny xo
Thanks Penny. I believe that there are too many disappearing Dads in this world and I'm thankful that I wasn't one of them. It would have been so easy or perhaps too hard at the time. The investment in these women has been worth it in so many ways.
How was your trip? I'm sure Michael would have been pleased to see a familiar face or two.
I have just driven 475km North of Mt Gambier to a town called Berri to do my truck driving course for big trucks. Ironically this is the same truck that I have been driving for the past 2 years but they are much stricter here than in the USA.
Bye for now
Nigel
Miss you Great to read your blog Nigel. Hope Briar recovers quickly.Monty is well. Had a run in with a car which was very traumatic for Chris and I. Monty shock it off and ran around Victoria Dog park like nothing had happened. Car came off second best. Big strong boy!!! Take care friend. xox
HI Hi Nigel
I love getting all your blogs. I hope Briar recovers well. I know what you mean about getting back home and recognising no one - tho' the cityscape in Christchurch is SO different now. If you are in Sydney - please give us a call - 0432 923 6639. We're in Melbourne for a weekend in 2 weeks time.
After the GFC was very unkind to us, we too are making new beginnings.
Love to catch up
Love
Mary

Great news Nigel. Interesting stuff and flovoured now by your second trip - feel like we are with you on the journey. WE will be in Californis again late November this year - LA only this time - will you be about? Love Mary
Blog response I am a South African, working with Nigel in Texas, USA. From the first day we met in late March 2012, Nigel was a very helpful guy, and i immediately took to this friendly New Zealander. He made me feel comfortable in a unfamiliar environment, and i settled soon after with the feeling that, ''i can do this''. The work ahead was tiring, and we were all ''bushed'' after our daily tasks of driving 18 wheeler trucks for 12 to 14 hours.
We now work from Dalhart in Texas, and Nigel is in charge of a few of us, and everybody gets on very well with him. He is always ready with a joke, and in general a fun guy to be around.
Looking forward to once again work together as the corn harvest approach, and do our best to make this one of the best seasons that PMS will ever have.
Nice blog Nigel. See you around ...
Soooo great to hear from you Love your blog new adventure all good.
I realised I have known you over 30 years and still think you very cool!!
Please send more travel blogs when you can, they are so well written and a real breath of fresh air
Sorry cant send any Marmite

Glad you are back Good to hear from you again Nigel. It sounds like you have landed on your feet and found your niche. I wish I could as well.
I am going to get my Digger Drivers Licence in Christchurch, every School Boy's dream. Should be plenty of work in Christchurch in that area for a few years.
Geoff.
Hi Nigel - I know that 'where is home' feeling, and you know the bay is a really good temporary one - good for the soul, stunning wherever you look and it has that light and air you can only get in NZ. You know, home is wherever you feel happy and loved, and that can be different geographical places - when I am here I still talk about NZ and Nelson as home, when I am there I talk about London as home too, as my children are here. Enjoy your time at home, keep going on your adventures, they are good for you and and they stretch your mind. Don't forget there is always room at the inn in London if you make it this far, love from your cousin Suzanne xx
How big is the world, really? Hi Sue, thanks for those comments. They are helpful indeed. I am free to go anywhere so I'm more of the mind not to stay in NZ but to keep going as you say. Yes, McLarens is a santuary but it's not where I want to live. It's too remote for me. Have a great Christmas and a when I make it that far I will definitly come and catch up with you.
Kind Regards
Nigel
Hi Nigel Thanks for the blogs. They have been a nice distraction from all the broken buildings and work frustrations in Godzone. I just eat my heart out with envy as I read them all.
Cheers
Bruce
Thanks for your comments Hi Bruce. Great to hear from you and that I am providing some distraction to you from your desk. I reckon that if you were meant to be here you would be but that does not appear to be the case. So the next thing is to live vicariously through my blog. Well that will hopefully make you less envious.
I'm in Denver in the middle of a snow storm which is expected to drop about 6 - 8 inches before the days end. All is good until the wind blows and then it is freezing cold. Might head downtown and find a REAL COFFEE later. Keep cool 'til after school. See you on the 18th Dec when I hope to attend Church with you guys.
p.s. this one was a perfect length and I also really enjoy the maps and your explanations of your photos! I seem to get them twice which is good when I click submit and I haven\'t finished! xox :-)
Your response Thanks Penny for your comments. Busy tying up loose ends here and then off on a new adventure in 48 hours, then home to NZ. Who knows what will happen next, lets just wait and see. Looking forward to catching up.
Hi, Always enjoy your blogs especially the photos. Sometimes they are a bit long as I always seem to be in a hurry when I check my emails!! I\'m sure others don\'t think that though.
See you soon xox
Hi Nigel I really enjoy your blogg the stories of your travels and the photos are wonderful. I am gob smacked at times by some of your stories and breath taken by the scenery. What a fantastic experience you are having, well deserved, miss you so happy for you that its all going well.
Hi Dale Thanks for your comments. Good to hear that you are enjoying the blogs. I have finished my truck driving now and it's Saturday, the wind is blowing from the North and the temp is 0 degs. I think it's time for me to leave. packing my bags now for my big train trip from Denver to LA via Salt lake City and san Francisco. Should be fun as I sleep on the train from SLC to san Fran. Back in NZ on the 10th Dec. Will call you when I get to NZ sometime. Nigel
Roadtrip Hi Nigel,
Yes it is a great trip. We did it last year. I guess it was abit late for the autumn colours. The mountain scenery is something to see and the trees etc that grow at those altitudes.Take care and dont get frostbite
Nigel's Wildlife shots Wahta an interesting time you are having Nigel. So many unusual looking creatures. What a blast you must be having getting those images - it takes time getting a collection like that and you must be on a roll. Enjoy yourself and keep up the good work. God bless you mate, cheers Glen.
I used to live in New Zealand until life changed. At 50 years of age I was made redundant from a career that I knew well. My twenty five years as a Commercial Real Estate Specialist was over. So I went home and rennovated the kitchen and totally landscaped the back yard before I joined forces with a couple of my University colleagues and started a new business. What a blast that was, starting from the ground up with everything in front of us. The business took off.
Then one Sunday in August 2008, I went to Church and from out of the blue I crashed big time. I later learnt that I was having... full info
